Tonita’s Tiny House on a Trailer from Slabtown Customs

You are looking at the Tonita Tiny House built by Slabtown Customs.

From the outside, it’s like the builder’s AnneMarie tiny house design.

It’s 24′ long and 8′ wide and was customized by Tonita, one of our readers who has commented before.

So there’s an 8′ x 6′ covered front porch which leaves 8′ x 18′ for the interior space.

The porch is large enough for two rocking chairs which is nice.

The bathroom is in the rear of the house and has a bathtub, toilet, and sink.

The upstairs sleeping loft is positioned above the porch area.

Anybody who is thinking about contacting this builder might want to check out what some of his unfortunate customers are saying on the tiny house blog.

Thanks for the heads up, Mrs. Harrell.

I can’t find anything except the blog made by this man himself. I don’t find the comments you are referring to…

I am THRILLED with my tiny house. A VERY VERY HAPPY SLABTOWN CUSTOMS CUSTOMER.

I wrote up my own contract with Scott and we both signed it. I however did not put in a delivery date and so the building delivery time stretched out longer than I had anticipated but since ( I ) wrote up the contract that was MY fault for not stating a finish date. I contacted many people who had purchased tiny homes and buildings from Slabtown Customs before I ordered mine. All happy customers that did not have a complaint. Each one HIGHLY recommended Slabtown Customs.

I have been a fan of tiny homes for well over 25 years, watching the market as builders started popping up and keeping an eye out for a builder like Scott of Slabtown Customs. Scotts prices are amazing and I purchased mine for $9,995.00. You can see the original offer on http://tinyhouseblog.com/tiny-house-for-sale/annemarie-and-jadyn-mckenna-sale/ .

Having my own business for most of my life I know there are always people who will never be happy, have something bad to say and just set out to ruin other peoples business or reputation. Personally I have dealt with at least three contractors that did not follow through on their word or contract and these jobs were in the $50K to $100K range. It can happen at any price range.

So, I have to stick up for Scotts work here in that he went ABOVE and BEYOND to make up to me for the extended time I waited till it was finished. Just a few things he did for me at no extra cost – He made and installed a custom book shelf and ladder that blends into the bookshelf. He put in extra light fixtures and outlets. He added in an extra window after I changed my mind and the walls were already built. He drove several hours away to locate a wood counter top for my kitchen and then did beautiful wood work around the kitchen sink. He changed out the exterior wood on the upper part of the house to fit my décor style. There is more but this is what he did at ZERO extra cost. I couldn’t believe it. Who does that these days? I would say he went out of his way to work with me and please me. Come on, who does all that and absorb the cost. He lost money on my house. I actually felt guilty knowing what went in to it vs what I paid for it. So now the same home design as mine with his standard appliances is close to $16-17K. I paid $4K for a basic shed five years ago. I can not say enough about this builder and the quality of my tiny home. So, make sure you talk to happy customers also before you over spend with someone else on your tiny house.

I ordered a tiny house from Scott in Feb 2012. It was supposed to be ready by June. I started to get nervous when he had excuse after excuse. He said he was working on it but wouldn’t send any pictures. And then I saw a blog with several unhappy customers so I finally cancelled my order in August 2012. It’s now a year later & he still hasn’t returned my deposit of $10,425.00.

I spoke with one of those folks that posted on the blog, who was having trouble with the builder, he finally did get his house, but i’m sure he wishes he wouldn’t have,- evidently he’s had nothing but problems since day one with plumbing, and things falling apart, ect,.. sounds like a total nightmare. After my conversation with him, I wouldn’t live in this builders’ tiny house if he gave me one. Yes, the link provided by Alex is the one I was referring too, I also found another persons blog which reads to me like they’re having problems of their own with this builder, here’s the link to it….

I was wondering how big the bathroom and nook are? I think this home is real cute. Are there building plans for this home? Look almost like a Lusby by Tumbleweed.

I would very much like to see some statement from the builder about the reported problems on various sites like Casey Friday’s build site. I’m sure there have been some happy customers but equally there have been some distraught unhappy clients with very similar seeming, unprofessionally-handled experiences with the builder. It’s a shame because there are some interesting features of Mr. Stewart’s houses, like the reverse loft designs.

I agree, but I thought the reverse loft design was a wonderful solution for a child’s bedroom 🙂

I’ve been a big fan of Scott’s work for about 4 years now. My husband and I called him for a quote based on my own design, and it was very VERY reasonable! We will likely be calling him again within the next two years when we’re ready to make the leap 🙂
