How to Transition into the Tiny House Lifestyle: Downsizing e-Course

This post contains affiliate links.

I wanted to let you know that my friend Mariah of Comet Camper is hosting a Tiny Transition Downsizing e-course that you’re invited to take part in.

So if you’re thinking about moving into a tiny house, studio, RV, or any other small space you might want to consider this course.

The course is based on Mariah’s experience in downsizing as well as helping her students downsize too.

It’s based on common challenges you might experience and the course leaves you with methods that help you figure everything out faster.

You’ll also be in a supportive environment since there are others who will be taking the course too that you can share your experiences with (and listen in on, too).

Learn how this downsizing e-course can help you move towards a better life (designed by you) below:

Handling Friends and Family

We all know that sometimes friends and family just don’t get it when it comes to tiny housing and it can be discouraging so that’s why it’s valuable to get yourself around like minded people (and this is one way of doing it).

Where Do I Even Begin?

If you need help figuring out where to start (your stuff, monthly bills, lifestyle adjustments, etc.) this might be the course for you.

A Step by Step System that Helps You Downsize Fast

But it will also take you beyond that because Mariah’s step by step system will get you on the path to smart sizing and simple living faster than you would normally be able to do it all by yourself.

More Than Just Dealing with Stuff

She’s going to teach you how to even minimize the emotional baggage that comes with downsizing. So even if for now you just want to declutter your life (bills, stuff, mental baggage, etc.) this course will work for you.

How It Works

Once a week you’ll get a course session via email to perform but you also get access to talk to other students through a group forum (private).

Designing your own Simple Life

You’ll get to dive into your own personal goals, belongings, where you’re at now, and where you want to go while getting to be in a supportive environment online (so you don’t have to leave home).

Allow me to let Mariah take over from here….

Whether you are transitioning into a tiny house or just looking to smart-size your life, this e-course will help you clear your space, your head, and hopefully even put a few more dollars in your bank account.

We each have a story to tell, about how we got here, where we come from and where (and who) we want to be. I look forward to hearing your stories. I can honestly say that downsizing my stuff and clearing my space, both mental and physical, is the best thing that has come of this whole “tiny house” obsession. It is the first step to creating real change in our lives, and making room for more important things.

I’m always impressed by everyone in each class, it’s amazing to see people make such big changes in their lives and find more happiness. The next class begins May 3rd, so sign up now to save your spot. I could tell you about how much students enjoy the course, but I’ll let them tell you…

Testimonials from Mariah’s Students

Here are some testimonials from the last class:

“I found Lesson 2 worth the price of the whole course. Being given permission is ridiculously powerful. I’ve carted off a bunch of stuff to the thrift store and started to see clearly some of the mindset that keeps me holding on to things.” – Patty

“I loved the course, it was extremely helpful to me. I have been so busy with garage sales and getting the house ready to put on the market (in two weeks) I sold over $2,000 at the garage sale, have enough to have another one. Gave away a ton of stuff to friends. And if someone makes an offer on the house that includes furniture, I am giving it to them. Because of this course, I was able to let go of everything…I have gotten rid of old clothes that I have been holding on to for years, in hopes that I could wear them again. Art supplies I know I will never use. And I have begun to see my self differently.” – S.

“Yes, there was huge progress in my life. I downsized from two houses to one small one-bedroom condo and have taken boxes and boxes out of it. I’ll be listing it shortly to move into an apartment to get ready for my tiny house. I am already feeling so much lighter and more carefree. Thank you so much for your guidance and support.” – Carey

“I’m in the current course and am so glad I signed up for it! My husband and I have been preparing for about 7 months to downsize to a converted bus and were unsure if this course was really gonna have anything new to offer. It not only had new ideas and resources for us to explore but gave us a kick in our giddy up to start or finish projects we already knew needed attention. I highly recommend this course.” – Suzanne

“Love. Love. Love this! Absolutely Brilliant.” – Janis

“Thank you, Mariah, for one of the best experiences of a lifetime!” – Lisa

Here are even more past and present student successful simple living stories are saying about the Tiny Transition + Downsizing E-Course:

“I signed up for the e-course and was a bit nervous! The first batch of course matter was worth the price of the entire course!! It is so info packed and I totally dig the self exploration it sparked! Thank you Thank you Thank you!” – Christine

“I’m in the current course and am so glad I signed up for it! My husband and I have been preparing for about 7 months to downsize to a converted bus and were unsure if this course was really gonna have anything new to offer. “Love. Love. Love this! Absolutely Brilliant.” – Janis

“Wow! Did you hit the nail on the head… Thanks, Mariah.” – Judy

“I thought I was taking this course for one reason, because I have too much STUFF, and it turns out it I am taking this course to renew my soul and reclaim that generous, happy, creative person I left behind somewhere … ME”  – J.

    Hello everyone,
Rather than thinking that you are losing something in downsizing, one might look at it as gifting the buyer with a bargain in a yard sale, giving something to posterity before actually having to leave the planet to see them use it? hmm,
helping other tiny house people furnish their tiny house with things you would be selling etc. Alex you might start a community yard sale blog sorta thing or trading post online that one could use to help their fellow Tiny Houser people or those who frequent the blog, where people could barter “I have a blank anyone interested? Sure I have a blank blank I’ll trade you for it?” 🙂 just an idea! May have to wait til they are close enough in a community but worth a shot I think. Sure makes letting go easier when you know someone else will benefit from whatever the treasure. 🙂
God bless everyone and Happy Trails!

My thinking is perhaps backwards or thinking “outside” the box. I want
to get my tiny home first and when I move in…… I know what will fit in
my home. What’s left over in my 840 sf condo, I can get rid of after the
fact. Has anyone thought of this?

This is an excellent idea. Most people can’t finance two living spaces. Having a loose sell date on the vacated premise can be financially difficult. However an alternative may be a rented trailer that can the be culled or a temporary shed that gets repurposed into a studio or garden shed? I have downsized twice and have one more until final small house. It’s challenging! Good luck

I am all about tiny house living and particularly the life style that comes with it. I plan to get there A.S.A.P, as soon I reach some bench marks with my current job and getting a loan paid off in the next couple of years. If I want to move to another state, buy land to put a tiny house on, where’s the best place to start and/or do you have any tips for planning all this? Also, I am a jewelry artist and will want/need to have a studio. I’ve envisioned this as being a separate tiny structure…it’s own building, but would that be most cost effective/efficient? The only thing “special” I might want to have in there is running water/a sink…other than that, it could just be a room…a big one ’cause it’s a studio (and I may want to have a little more in there than just my jewelry tables and equipment). Any thoughts, comments or suggestions?

Closet space is the only problem I see with Tiny Homes. I just saw this wonderful DIY project on Instructables: http://www.instructables.com/id/No-Closet-Storage-Solution/ … I think I could live with that! Wish I could post the photo.
    Thanks!

    Hey Alex,
Can you and I meet in person.so I can get a real understanding on this, I’m thinking about building my own tiny house, but I don’t know how to start, can we meet in person and show me how to do this.

I grew up poor and living tiny was what I realized we did as I grew older. My closet had less clothing than most tiny house people put together. But I never wanted for stuff. I have a normal size house, 1500 square feet now but still try to live a simple way. My goal is to one day live in a tiny house with my husband and enjoy even a simpler lifestyle. So yes you can start to downsize your life before you move, start by just going room by room clearing away the things you truly don’t need. How many pots and pans do you need to cook dinner? Shoe, hats, shirts, etc. my grandma use to say” if you haven’t used it in a year, put it in a box and if you haven’t opened it in six months, it goes right to charity”. I think that is Great Advice. Start by downsizing the inside where you live NOW first and then you can downsize the outsize. Cleaning house is good also for the soul, I had things I kept that did not bring joy, they were handed down from others memories. I look at the tiny house movement as a way to go back to our past when what was truly valuable was seen with the heart and not the eyes. I hope this help a little.

Our town is having a city wide garage sale at the end of May. You register with the city and they take care of advertising. You just have to take care of your own pile of stuff in your own yard. It makes for good inspiration having a deadline too. They also sponsor a car trunk sale in a recreation centre parking lot in June so you can get rid of the stuff you were undecided about in May. It’s part of their Environment Week efforts to encourage people to reuse instead of toss. I better get busy!
