Tiny Rural Cottage in Portugal

This post contains affiliate links.

This is a tiny rural cottage in Portugal that you can vacation in.

Outside, you’ll see a lovely white stucco cottage with bright blue shutters and terracotta tiles on the roof. The home sits on the owners 17-acre lot away from city life.

When you go inside, you’ll find the same stunning contrast of bright blue accents and terracotta tiling. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishware, a sink and an oven. The living area opens to the outdoors through two sets of french doors, making the two spaces one. There are two rooms, one with a beautiful bright blue wrought-iron bed, and another with two wooden twin beds. Enjoy the majestic views in all directions of the Portuguese countryside. Please enjoy, learn more, and re-share below. Thank you.

That’s “wrought” iron. (Curse you, Dragon Naturally Speaking.)

Can I live there? LOL! Gorgeous! Love all the tile and bright natural lighting!

Ironically it is all that tile that makes me want to puke. Sorry, but it does. Looks like it has mud (or something much worse) smeared all over it… and it seems to be in most of the house. Wouldn’t be so bad if that tile was constrained to the floor, and a different tile on the walls, backsplash etc. But noooo…

You are unfamiliar with terracotta tile? It’s traditional across Spain and Portugal, and very appropriate in this rural setting. Somehow, I can’t see Home Depot commercial subway tile working as well, never mind cleaning glossy tile after the tourists are gone. Give me texture and earth tones any day.

Oh I’m very familiar with Terracotta… just don’t like it in this particular case in the way it has been used… refer my original posting.

Yes Terracotta is appropriate for many Mediterranean climates. I understand that. But (for me) I paraphrase Forrest Gump. Ugly is as Ugly does. YMMV.

LOL at Mike. That’s twice that I’ve seen today alone. Sad really!

Moving on, I really like this one. Perhaps not the choices in flooring so much. It does go with the design though. However, the overall layout is really great looking. Thank you for sharing.

Breathtaking views, stunning interior (love the color choices!), and an exterior that reminds me of Greece. The outdoor stairway is fabulous. Living here would be equal to a permanent vacation.

Glad someone else caught it…wrought iron not “rot”. Cute otherwise.

So, how come one exterior picture has a square tower, and the others have round towers. Are we mixing pictures? Otherwise I love the feel and openness of the place.

I think the round tower is the chimney shaft above the kitchen stove. The square tower is slightly visible in another picture but the tree blocks it.
