Tiny House With Built-In Aquaponics System

This post contains affiliate links.

This is a tiny house with a built-in aquaponics system in the kitchen. It’s pretty interesting and something I’ve never really seen before in a tiny house on wheels.

It’s called the Tiny Giant House and several years ago in 2015, it was listed for sale for $60,000 USD. The home was built on a 24-foot trailer, weighs about 13,800 lbs, and has so many unique features like a built-in chicken coop, a rainwater collection system, solar array, an AQUAPONICS system, 45-gallons of water storage, and more…

It also features a 9.2 cubic foot refrigerator, a full-size combo washer/dryer, a SunMar composting toilet, an LG mini-split air conditioner, and more. This tiny house is almost completely self-sufficient, isn’t it? Amazing…

Unless I’m mistaken the floor plan looks very different than the layout in the pictures.

Thanks for the comment, Lannette. However, it is spot on exactly the same, except for the refrigerator and washer/dryer swap. Moving the washer/dryer along with the clothing storage towards the bathroom made more sense. 😉

I dont understand. Its a great tiny house, creative and original. I saw the show Tiny house,Big Living. I thought you built the house for yourself. Why are you selling so soon?

You are correct, I did design the house to live in. I would also like to impart upon others the opportunity to experience how fun tiny living can be, while continuing to design and build tiny’s that far exceed the picture in many minds of what a tiny house is and is not. 😉

Building these things, obviously take quite a bit of time and consideration due to the space constraints. They also absorb a lot of capital costs as well as personal time. That is to say, I want to build more and to help me do that I am willing to part with TinyGiant to see my future ambitions come to fruition. 😉

I will say, it is a super sweet home! I love everything about it, so it’s hard in that regard to let’er go, but design evolution never stops.

          Cheers,
          Rob

NICE PROFIT – if you can sell it for $60,000

      Sandra,
Full dislosure, not really. It took me 4 months to build and over 1200 hours. Plus, the tool costs, working and scheduling additional professional assistance to get some of the systems in right, and the hit I took in my other profession from dedicated so much time to it. I’m actually losing money. In addition, if you look at all of the professionally built homes I am more than competitive in pricing.

Thanks for your thoughts, though. I wish I could agree.
      Rob

Thanks, Rob! You did a great job and I think it’s a very fair price considering everything you’ve put into it. That being said, many still won’t appreciate it but that’s okay 😀

Classic, Mass Production vs. Craftsmanship dilemma we allow in modern culture. Ironic for tiny living? 😉

Rob, can I ask why you’re selling it?

I saw this place at the Jamboree! My kids and I loved the climbing wall into the loft and the water catchment system. I thought your house stole the show! I was inspired by it and can’t wait to design and build my own. I can assure folks that the ingenuity and creativity that went into this house is astounding and sets it apart from about any other I have seen. It is well worth the price! I hope a buyer sees this and makes it possible for you to pursue future tiny endeavors. I, for one, am excited to see what you come up with next. Kudos!
