Tiny House Unconference in Portland, Oregon

In case you’re in the Portland, Oregon area- or even if you’re willing to travel- there are some exciting things happening in the area right now. The Tiny House Unconference is happening on Friday, April 17th, 2015 from 8AM to 3PM. Tickets are just $12 but if you enter the promo code RAINDROP before checkout you will get a 50% discount.

It’s an event created by Mark Grimes and it’s a casual event with no agenda. That’s why it’s called the Unconference. Because attendants are free to start discussions based on their own ideas.

This is happening from 8:00 am to 3 pm. On the very same day, starting at 3PM, there’s a FREE tiny house mixer event at the Tiny House Hotel where Dee Williams will be signing books! As you might know, the Tiny House Conference is from April 18-19 (over the weekend). Since not everybody can afford to get into that event (tickets are $300 each) these are some great alternative options. And if you’re just in town early for the conference, you can also catch these events to further add to your tiny house experience in Portland. 🙂

I’m bummed. I don’t what planet I’ve been on but I didn’t know about the conference on April 18-19. I would have planned to go. As it is now, I can’t afford the registration. $300 a piece is a little steep for me. Oh, well. I guess I’ll shoot for next year if they have it again.

Sorry Kelli! I didn’t announce/promote it enough this year. I haven’t been able to go to it myself yet it either.

Tickets for the “Unconference”s are $12.00? What might they cost if this were an actual “conference”. People are building, and investigating building Tiny Houses because of spiraling costs and the exorbitant cost of even a “starter house” for a young couple, or a retired person or couple living on a fixed income. $12.00 seems like a stiff price to pay for a purely informational get together, especially where no actual product changes hands.

Sorry if my sentiments offend, but been poor too long. That’s breakfast, lunch and dinner for me for a day! So, do I eat today, or go to an “unconference”. Someone’s getting fat off this even if only 100 people show up.

It’s only $6 if you use the coupon code in the post. Dave, why don’t you go to the free one at the Tiny House Hotel instead? Info is here: https://tinyhousetalk.com/free-tiny-house-mixer-event-in-portland-oregon/ I understand the frustration of not having enough money. The free event is a great option for you if you’re able to make it there. If not, just enjoy the rest of this site (and many others) which are free.

$12.00 bucks is a steal- for those people who complain about “no product being exchanged”, WHAT? Knowledge IS the product! I guess when you spend $12.00 on a few meals and a some hours later it is literally flushed down the toilet- you don’t complain. $12.00 worth of knowledge can last a lifetime. The reason you may struggle with money is due to the resistance of taking money and putting into your brain so your body reproduces a hundred fold. Spend the $12.00. It will last a lot longer than a few meals!

Yes. I would have liked to go as well, have enough frequent flyer points, but did not even know about it until last week. I need a little more time for planning.

$300 for a Tiny House conference? Seriously? Comic-Con are not that expensive!

  • Susanne April 9, 2015, 11:07 pm

Alex, please tell us what the conference would involve; what the $300 covers.

Do you have agents in Georgia?

I am interested in obtaining a tiny house.
