Tiny Geodesic Cabin in the Woods

This post contains affiliate links.

Dome homes are so fun, and this little one tucked in the woods on a 65-acre organic farm is no exception. It’s 100% glamping — no heat, electricity, etc. — but you have exclusive access to the host’s basement bathroom, and can use their deck and grill for cooking.

The dome was made with locally sourced timber from the property and boasts a lovely queen bed and sitting area. You can spend your days roaming the farm, and enjoy in-season produce, as well.

Take a look and tell us, would you build a dome home?

I would not want to cross a yard and go into someone’s basement in the middle of the nite to use the bathroom……….

I’ve been in places where one had to cross the yard and go to an outhouse in the middle of the night in February to use the bathroom. Places with scorpions and cobras and Scud missiles occasionally incoming.

Of course, I didn’t have to pay to rent those places. In fact, I got paid to live in them. But this looks pretty comfy by comparison.

Thank you for your service, and I’m sorry you had to live in those difficult places so far away from family and home, and I’m glad you got back. Thank you. . .

I’m with you there! I wouldn’t want to leave my nice warm spot, and go into someone’s basement to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. But I have lived in far worse places. I have lived where the house sat in the middle of a dairy field, and you had to go “out back” to an outhouse without hitting the cow patties! And I didn’t mind it back then. But I’m 62 now, and I can afford some little luxuries. Leaving my nice warm bed to go traipsing elsewhere for the bathroom is not something I will compromise on these days. Also, having once (4 months only) lived in a small geodesic home, I really find them quite confining. All kinds of things have to be taken into consideration, especially in one so tiny as this: headroom for instance (I come from a very tall family – my sons are all over 6’5″; furniture placement; lack of good places for artwork (the walls won’t allow you to hang art in most instances); plumbing and electrical are placed in such a manner as to allow economical use of both (again due to wall shape and placement). Don’t get me wrong, I do think they are beautiful, but, just not for me. Give me a square, or a cube shape any day. Just a little less “Thoreau-like” (I love my indoor plumbing at this age!) Cheers!

Wow, so simple, so gorgeous, the beauty of the wood has one just looking and appreciating all those knots and unique circle construct to decorate the joining of the angles.

Too cute! Lovely outside and inside. Lots more space inside than it looks like there would be. I’m assuming that there is some kind of camping potty to use at night that can be emptied the next day. I’m sure the owners do not want people wondering around at night in the dark either. It’s a really intriguing and lovely build, and the views are fantastic!

Nope, only the bathroom in the main house but they do allow the option to rent a bedroom in the main house. The cabin is off-grid and set up as a camping stay…

Well, how hard would it be to pack your own camping potty, right? Anything to make the stay at this place possible. It’s so cute!

Nice build and very pretty on the inside but it doesn’t seem complete at all. No bathroom (toilet, shower, sink). I wouldn’t even make it to a strangers bathroom in a basement without peeing my big girl panties. Same with my husband. No electric, which people can and do live without. No way to heat Tue inside. Picture a rainy day in the dome with absolutely nothing to do. Can’t cook, shower, use a toilet, etc. The only reason to be in this dome is sleep and sit. I can’t imagine a very pleasant stay.

Like already mentioned, it’s just for camping style stays, without needing to sleep in a tent and on the ground, but it’s not suppose to be a modern home… While they do allow the option to rent a bedroom in the main house. So you don’t have to sleep in the cabin…
