Tiny Cabin with a Bus

You’ve likely never seen a tiny home set-up like this! This is a tiny cabin with a bus by Tiny Houses Off the Grid.

Outside, you’ll notice an old bus buried in a hill with a 16 x 22 deck built above it. On the deck, you’ll find a super tiny 7′ x 10′ cabin.

When you go inside, you’ll find a bed on one side of the structure with a corner counter top including a hot plate and shelves for food items. The house has a metal roof and pine walls, and the porch includes a lounge and an umbrella. From the deck, you have wonderful panoramic views of the forest that make you feel like one with the nature surrounding you.

So… what does the bus have to do with it? I really like this little cabin and big deck. I could live here. But I don’t get the bus.

Carrie – Can’t really answer your question but.. I love the pics and overall idea – I would either use the bus as a storage area and/or convert it to living space. I’d also make the cabin bigger, probably the entire area of the deck. There are many possibilities! Cool thing is you can pick up a used school bus for pennies on the dollar and easily turn it into usable space.

Maybe it’s the guest bus..er…I mean bunk.

Someone let the picture taker in, so why was the bus not questioned? Roof will be noisy in rain, and not insulated, so it will be cold. No mention of a loo, so apparently belongs to a bear, and it goes in the woods. Like the woodwork, but obviously not meant for living in, Would have been ahead converting the bus.

Maybe it’s the bus bath house.

Where is this located? Why it so rare to ever see this information?

Why is it so rare to see this information?

Hmmm, keeping it quiet from authorities is one possible reason. Another, and sensible, reason is to not give crims any assistance for ransacking the place etc. Then again, just plain privacy… a hermit by nature possibly.

I wasn’t asking for the street address or GPS coordinates. I just love the view and wonder where “in very general terms” that part of the world is at? It looks like it would be a nice place to go for a hike….:-)

Ah! Sorry, I took it the other way. Other people have questioned similarly about other posted places, but appeared to want to know “where it was” as in pretty precisely. Now it could be that they just wanted to “have a nosey” to see if the reality lives up to the expectations of what is seen on THT. Then again, there could be ulterior motives.

Perhaps you could direct that kind of question to the contributor or the site moderator which is Alex Pino.

I, like everyone else, am wondering why the bus wasn’t shown. Perhaps it’s not completed yet? If it were me, I’d have the bus as the living area, kitchen, and bathroom. Perhaps a deck as well for outdoor entertaining. The upstairs as a private space/ sleeping space with the deck for those morning coffees and evening iced teas. Obviously all well insulated. JMHO

Excellent work. I would have loved to see what you did with the bus. If it isn’t done; please post so we can all see the finished cabin.
    Thanks for sharing.

What will happen to people living in tiny homes full time if the
new HUD rules go into effect in the USA.
Builders may have to stop building them….period.

      Scary thought indeed.

In my opinion it does not matter what the governing authorities try to do, there will always be some homeless people or low income type living in something the authorities find undesirable. We will continue to have designers dream and build proto-types or actual ‘homes’ or sell their plans to someone else who will build. It is the nature of man to have Shelter and feed and clothe themselves no matter how others perceive those methods. These are three basic survival necessities.
