Tiny Cabin Vacation Rental in Asheville, NC

This post contains affiliate links.

I wanted to show you this tiny cabin with its 18′ vaulted ceilings in Asheville.

It’s a vacation rental you can actually stay in if you wanted and I find it to be the perfect size house.

It’s really spacious compared to a little house on wheels but has a similar design concept.

A cabin that’s a little larger, more spacious, but still very small relative to even today’s smallest homes.

Jenny’s cabin is 16’x25′ so it’s approximately 400-square-feet with a large deck.

And for those of you who don’t like the idea of upstairs sleeping lofts, maybe something like this is what you might want instead? Come on, let’s go inside!

I like how there are no cabinets or shelves on the walls of the kitchen because it gives it a clean look and also makes the space seem bigger.

I don’t believe there is a bed up there it’s probably just used for storage but obviously you’d be able to do whatever you want with your own. I’d probably go ahead and use it as a bed or maybe even an elevated office or writing area?

Both my husband and I have stayed in many wee vacation rentals like this, either as a couple or get-togethers with our best friends. They are as delightful as can be and are usually located in wild areas. Best one I stayed at with 6 girlfriends was on a raging “crick” (full of Winter run-off) in the piney woods of Arkansas. It was the last time any of us were single as 4 of us were getting married that year. “What happens in Arkansas STAYS in Arkansas!” 😉

Cahow, now I blush… just what did six somewhat single girls do that had to stay in Arkansas!?!? … …
Oh, yea, cute house, bla bla bla and so on so forth, very nice
      We’re waiting…
      🙂

Ha-ha-ha, Doc! You scamp, you!!! 😉

The ONLY thing I’ll admit to is that several of the days we got “down and dirty” by actually digging quartz crystals out of the red soil down there! One of the girls was 100% Native American and on her tribal land down there, they had HUGE quartz crystal mines, so we had the tribes blessings.

And that’s all I gotta say about that part of the trip. LOL

Your secret’s safe with me, mums the word, won’t tell a soul.
Can’t say anything about the rest of the interweb though!

High vaulted ceilings make a small house feel bigger but can reduce heating efficiency. I see they have a ceiling fan for that reason. Love the big deck and that makes a nice outside room for entertaining guests.

On your tiny home show, please make sure that people are not wanting to get a house on wheels built with the pretence of living small/green. I know a woman that you have been talking to and she is going to use it in place of a travel trailer and has no plans of actually living in it long term like the tiny house movement. She lives in a house and plans on building a new house when she gets married. I want to see people that are actually wanting to live the tiny house lifestyle, not pretend just for TV time and a builder for her travel trailer. Thanks!

…but… if that’s what she wants to do, what is wrong with that? Without having seen the tv show(s) you refer to, all I can say is, maybe she has a “reason” for having a Tiny Home, which she will use part time. In some ways it makes “more sense” than having a travel trailer or caravan. Having lived in caravans for a while I can tell you they get real old, real quick. Because they are always a compromise… especially on the insulation side.

The layout with the kitchen near the front seems odd.I guess it passes muster because it is a vacation home?
The high ceiling is very dramatic, but would make it very hard to heat even with fans. Its also a huge space waster in a small home.
Maybe the can get the sense of space with less cathedral ceiling?somehow?

Way too big for me. I’m going with a house on wheels. Now, if you just cut this house in two, then you’d have a tiny house duplex and THEN the size would just right. 😉

My dream home minus the 18′ ceilings. Love the simplicity of it and the deck’s awesome.

As always, you do a fantastic job, Alex. I just love the black granite countertops in the kitchen. I love looking at all of your “little house” finds. Keep up the great work, we all love it!
    Best,

Love it! Enough space to feel comfortable in it. Would be a good idea to rent it and get a reality check for tiny living. Check out the space saving furniture with storage now available at Tight Space Furniture dot com for plenty of options. Don’t forget to share!
