Here’s the latest Denali Bunkhouse model built by Timbercraft Tiny Homes for a client who wanted wants of natural light. There’s hardly a space in this tiny house that doesn’t have windows, so they definitely delivered!

This model boasts a first floor bedroom with lofted ceilings. The actual loft in this house sits in the middle of the THOW, leaving the living room and bedroom with lots of height. What do you think?

First Floor Bedroom and Oodles of Windows

The living space has tons of big windows.

The U-shaped kitchen looks beautifully functional.

The loft sits over the kitchen and bathroom.

The first floor bedroom is also bursting with light!

This little staircase goes to the loft.

This could be a great office or kids’ space.

The exterior is just as beautiful as the interior.

I love the shingles on the exterior.

Maybe I don’t understand the definition but I thought a “ bunkhouse” had a space you could have bunk beds? The loft looks like you couldn’t even stand up, let alone have bunk beds. Overall I like the home, but am confused, obviously 🤷‍♀️

I’m with you Daisy. Title is confusing; I was thinking more of a cabin style deal with bunkbeds. This THOW? is just a narrow ranch (think mobile home). And, 5 axles under the frame? Would be nice on a foundation. Would take a skilled OTR driver and tow vehicle to do much. Sometimes having a lot of money can’t make up for poor judgement.

Bunkhouse refers to sleeping quarters that are typically a large open room with narrow beds or cots for each individual and little privacy. So there doesn’t actually have to be Bunk Beds there to call it a Bunkhouse, just similar sleeping arrangement.

I totally LOVE all the windows!! Due to my age, I’m so glad for the 1st floor bedroom. I didn’t notice if the bathroom had a shower, as much as I enjoy a soaking tub, a walk in shower is what I need. Thank you so much for sharing!!

That one has a standard shower/tub combo… The layout and details are customizable, though. So, if you have one built, they can just put in a shower for you, and anything else you want to change or switch to one of their other models.

I know these are customizable but it would be much appreciated if the price for the model shown was included. I don’t understand why it isn’t.

Well, the problem is costs are changing over time and will vary, especially, for custom builds where the costs can be up to very different from one build to the next and they may not know the exact final tally until it’s actually built.

Mind, building is rarely going to always be a straight forward process, especially for a custom build as more can go wrong with a one off build and it would rarely be that efficient. Mistakes happen, plans change, customers can change their minds, supply issues and other problems can change the costs. Resulting in what they call Change Orders and other overhead that has to be accounted for when everything is said and done for the business to actually work and last.

It’s much easier for manufacturers who do repetitive work, producing multiples of the same build. Since, costs can be spread out, chances for mistakes reduced, work and time optimized for best efficiency, etc. to then provide prices as their costs will be much more consistent and can account for variables as they can be predictable and easier to absorb the occasional overhead but that tends to be a luxury for custom builders.

Such differences and other issues related to releasing a price can cause a custom builder issues like dealing with confused people, especially as that price may be viewed well past when it was relevant, it may also reveal information the owner’s may not want released, as well as it can be a drain on resources for the builder to deal with the confusion, etc. as time is money but not all inquiries will result in a sale and may even reduce them if there’s a lack of confidence in the process. Along with the consequences of too much overhead causing a business to increase its prices to compensate.

Something to understand is business need to continually bring in income to the business or it will cease to be sustainable. Half of small businesses, for example, typically only have a large enough cash buffer to allow them to stay in business for 27 days, if they stopped bringing in money then that’s all the time they have until they have to close their doors. Labor-intensive industries, especially, tend to have even less of a buffer, with restaurants only having 16 buffer days on median and construction is definitely labor intensive.

Timbercraft Tiny Homes probably has more of a buffer than most but it should be understandable that this builder very much prefers to just give a financial page with basic information, where their home prices start, and quotes for those actually interested in ordering a home for what it will cost them to get the final product. So they can focus on those sales and getting product out to their customers…

Interesting, James. I didn’t know this about businesses, but it makes sense. I can see where it could be very stressful especially in businesses that are not necessary but desirable, like a restaurant. Thanks for the info.

Absolutely beautiful. Love the little staircase leading to the loft and especially all the windows.

Great little home, inside and out! I personally would cut back on the amount and size of windows. Window covers are quite expensive. Washing them inside and out is such a chore!

WOW! That’s some fabulous tiny house! I love the look of it…very pleasing, indeed! That kitchen is to die for and I would make only one change. I’d rather have an induction cooktop. They are more efficient and the heat level can be adjusted more accurately…and fast, too. I don’t need the loft as a bedroom but it would come in handy for storage. And I could live without the built-in bed…it’s nice to have options of where to put the bed and I like having under-bed storage. I could be wrong but the built-in didn’t look like it lifted up for the extra storage everyone in a tiny house appreciates. The windows are wonderful but I think I’d like to have just a bit more space between the floor and the bottom of the window to accommodate furniture placement. Sofa height would be perfect since when furniture is in place, that part of the window is blocked off anyway. I do appreciate the uniformity of the window sizes because it does make for a very uncomplicated look to the exterior. Who cares what it is called when it is that beautiful, right? I think we can all agree that it is beautiful and we can each picture our own furnishings and decorations that would make it very homey! Thanks for sharing!
