These are Timber Frames for Tiny Homes by M&K Timber Works in Fleetwood, North Carolina.

They contacted us saying they’d love to do more small and tiny frames for people wanting a static tiny home. Maybe you like the idea of a DIY house, but would really prefer the base structure be done by a professional so you know it’s safe — here’s a great option! Or, they also sell kits so you don’t have to measure (good for mathematically-challenged folks like myself). Check out their work below.

From the builder:

We offer handcrafted affordable timber frames for timber frame homes and timber frame barns. We also build timber frame kits. We have very low overhead which allows us to cut frames starting at $16 per sq. ft. We have a Wood-Mizer portable sawmill that allows us to control our raw material and allows us to offer frames at lower cost. Our wood of preference is local white pine but we can obtain any species of wood desired. We only work on one frame at a time so we provide excellent customer service. We also specialize in tiny timber frames for homes and barns.

I love timber frame houses, and they can be very beautiful when built, but the costs for building them to create a tiny house is very expensive, and go’s to unrealistic for the purposes it was intended.. Unless you are a builder who has the skills and time to design and erect one for yourself, as well as the manpower to lift it into position, it would make no sense as a tiny house…! But they still are one of the best construction methods ever conceived by the early builders who came up with it’s design and construction….!

Please check out our prices. White pine frames start at $16 per sq. ft.
I saw a report a while back that stated that is what 2x framing costs are running.

Like everything, it all depends on your budget. They are great–and you can have them erected. Since your walls aren’t structual you can have some super-insulated wall panels pre-made, and installed. Same for the roof. Quick and easy.
