They Moved Into A Tiny House Village Straight Out Of College

This post contains affiliate links.

Caris and Jake got married fresh out of college and wanted a place of their own. Lo and behold they were able to find a tiny house ready-built by Decathlon Tiny Homes (the Zeus model) and a spot in a tiny house village to park it in just two weeks!

While they didn’t customize their tiny house, they have made it home with their own finishes and decorations. The red kitchen is particularly striking!

Because they went from sharing a room in Jake’s dad’s home to living tiny, they hadn’t accumulated a lot of the stuff some other couples may have. That’s made the tiny house transition all the easier! Be sure to check out their video interview at the end of the post, and follow them on Instagram here.

The Ship-Lap and Red cabinetry really make this unit pop. It’s not a seniors abode but for all the built like jack-rabbit youngsters a real winner. And like all these units, when the advent of pressure HEMP planking is developed a great fire retardant as well as keeping trees doing tree stuff.

Your interesting comment, Mr. Burgess, grabbed my attention. What is pressure HEMP planking? Is is something in development now or on the market? The attractions of marijuana-type products do not … well… do not interest me much, though I have a VERY open mind. (Red wine and a pitcher of icy margaritas are my opiate of choice.) But if HEMP products can save our forests and grow and re-grow so rapidly, I simply do not understand what America is waiting for. Or do I misunderstand the reference to HEMP?

Stephen, I do not think there is a production facility anywhere in North America and yet several countries in Europe are in development. The range of HEMP composites is unlimited and just needs time.

Actually, there are facilities in the states… The patented “HempWood”, for example, is manufactured in the states and claims to be 20% harder than oak, the primary product of the company being flooring…

Mind, they opened the doors to industrial uses with the 2018 farm bill, passed by both houses, which included the hemp provisions of the Hemp Farming Act, backed by American Farm Bureau Federation, the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, the National Farmers Union and the National Conference of State Legislatures, to the de-scheduling of hemp… McConnell even signed it with a hemp pen… So there’s a growing number of hemp based products and is also why there are now so many CBD products…

There’s still contention and confusion over what “low THC content” means exactly but it’s being differentiated from high content marijuana.

Another example is Nevada based Industrial Hemp Manufacturing, LLC (IHM) and their subsidiary Hemp, Inc. have the largest multi-purpose industrial hemp decortication facility in the United States, catering to the composite natural fiber market.

This all taps the growing demand for more eco-friendly materials that covers a wide range from the construction and automotive industries, specifically, has created a notable surge.

DEFRA (Department of Environment Food & Rural Affairs) reported, “Almost 1.5 million vehicles included applications for natural fibers such as kenaf, jute, flax, hemp and sisal in combination with thermoplastic polymers such as polypropylene and polyester. The demand for natural fiber composites in North America is projected to continuously increase in the near future on account of significant performance at lower prices of natural fiber composites in automotive and construction applications driven by regulatory standards recommending the use of lightweight and recyclable materials.”

It also helps that the dwindling tobacco market is helping to turn farmers to alternate products like hemp…
