The Walking House is a dwelling made for people to live a nomadic life on land. It has solar power and small windmills for power. It even collects rainwater and has a system to heat water.
Their website even talks about adding a small greenhouse to provide food. It has a composting toilet and a wood burning stove. The most interesting part of this house is its legs. It does not depend on roads and can move along on different types of terrain because of the legs.
You’ll want to visit their website so you can read about their vision. Imagine a collection of these dwellings walking together as a modern “walking” nomadic village. This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. Here are some pictures of the WALKING HOUSE. Enjoy!

The walking house concept IS pretty cool but it’s going to take me a few days (or longer) to explore all the possibilities on their website. The house reminds me of the Hostile Environment Bases from the Science Fiction stories I’d grown up reading, the rest of their site seems to have equally fascinating possibilities. Looking forward to proving that.
This is truly a neat concept. I will have to explore their site, but the design seems a little too minimalist for my liking. If I had one of these, I’d definitely have to customize it a great deal to make it feel like home.
Someone left me out of the cocktail party…….Those Danes…crazy kids!!!
Maybe in a Steven Speilberg movie but WHY on Earth would anyone really want this? My Daddy was a professor of electrical engineering (UT)…he would like this as a toy….but I think even he would not care to live in it more than; an hour. Again..it’s about design and this is certainly designed?!?!?!
Apart from making it easy to get your TH down the narrow drive and around the garage corner to it’s resting place I can see little point.
And did you notice he put his foot on the stove to get into bed, I’m guessing that hadn’t been running 🙂
Never the less, as a certified card-carrying geek I love it.
