  I appreciated seeing comments that reflected some of my own thoughts as a tiny house expert and also someone who lives in a tiny house. The comments I especially agree with, is not needing a king size bed, large stove and refrigerators. I am not sure about the combo washer to save space. I have heard they make very tiny loads and shake. Not sure if it is true. So I guess if I wanted a washer and dryer I would opt for a stackable. If it were me, I guess I would do my research on what kind of laundry I would opt for.

    All washers shake, just the nature of a spinning mass. People just tend to notice it more on smaller machines because they have less mass and if not fastened down then the spinning load can shift it around more easily than larger and heavier machines.

    What is true about combo machines is they do smaller loads and it takes longer.

    Using a single machine for both washing and drying means you can’t load it full because the cloths expand when they get wet and without room for proper air flow then the drying process becomes less efficient.

    Dryers are normally larger than the washer to account for this but a single unit doesn’t give that extra space and you have to account for both the wash and drying process in the same size space.

    Most combo units are also ventless and use an efficient but slower process. Extracting moisture out of the cloths and condensing it back into water that either goes down a drain or into a container to be dumped…

    This process typically leaves the cloths feeling cool to the touch. So it can seem like the cloths are still wet when they are really dry but not everyone uses a combo correctly, so if too large a load then it can be actually still wet and it is a process that easily takes hours to complete each time.

    However, not all combo machines will necessarily use the same technology and some are vented for more effective drying that can happen closer to a half hour rather than over two hours.

    They also come in difference sizes but between the smaller load capacities and the long time each cycle can take it’s usually best to get the largest unit you can fit in the space but if needing to do any significant amount of washing or simply don’t want to dedicate hours to washing then a separate washer and dryer or stacked unit can be preferable…

    The other issue is what’s true of anything that serves multiple purposes. When you have a single machine that does multiple jobs then if anything breaks you lose all the functionality until that machine is fixed versus multiple machines that can break down separately and you are less likely to be out a specific function if only one machine is broken down.

    So a combo puts all your eggs in one basket but everything has trade offs…

    While there are alternatives like small washers and dryers that you can even use off-grid, if you’re going to do small loads anyway. Or, if you don’t need a dryer, there are washers that do spin drying cycles that at least get most of the moisture out and leave the cloths easy to hang up to dry…

    I’ve used the combo washer/dryers & personally don’t like them! It does take a long time because you can’t throw a load in to dry while another one is washing. While I do hang-dry most of my items (clothes mostly). I do prefer my towels/sheets to be dried.

    When I lived in Germany, I only had a washing machine, but no dryer. So I would set up a dry-rack for my towels/sheets. The problem is …especially in a smaller home …it takes up space & if they take more than a day to dry …then it’s difficult to move around it all.

    Plus, if you want to invite guests, then you have to “plan” exactly when you’re going to wash/dry because you don’t want all of your laundry sitting out when guest arrive. I also had a small balcony there, as it was an apt. Many Germans hung-dry their clothes outside during the warmer months, which was fine at the time, as bugs weren’t too bad.

    I now live in AL in the US , which is a very hot, humid climate with LOTS of bugs ….so outside hang-drying is not feasible for me, as I don’t like picking off all the bugs that stick to it.

    Going back to the combo machine – I used one while visiting Belfast, N. Ireland & thought it was the coolest thing (at first) …until I realized I had to wait awhile before I could do another load. I’m one who likes to do all of my laundry at once, if possible, so that I get it out of the way. I don’t want to be doing laundry multiple times a week.

    I now live in a studio apt where I have a stackable washer/dryer …though it’s small & I can only do small loads …I definitely prefer it over the combo machine. If I have anything too large to fit, such as a bedspread, then I can take to a family member’s home to wash or I can take to a local laundry mat, since it’s an item I don’t wash regularly.

    Anyway, just wanted to share that tidbit! I’m in the process of figuring out what size, style & etc tiny home I’m going to have …I already know without question that it will have the stackable machines, as for me that’s necessary.

  Can somebody call me I like the concept I got 80 acres and Kittery I am looking to buy 110 in vimont. Me and my son have a plan want to do these outdoor adventure park. I like the. Look of your Tiny homes. Need to know if I can be a rapper this area or possibly you’re a better deal over five months many of them and if there’s any financial financing possible. Play my son own a Development building company he just graduated college and his Dream. I need another project

  It looks nice indeed.
  However, I don’t like sleeping lofts. They aren’t suitable for the FL climate because hot air is climbing always. Beside that it isn’t comfortable for the elderly.
  In my opinion dormers to add some space upstairs aren’t very economical when it comes to cost and they don’t look pleasant on a tiny roof space.
  A 32 ft long THOW could accommodate a downstairs bedroom
  As many others, the so called dining area is a way to small for a multiple course menu. It fit’s to fast food or a single bowl breakfast mostly. But if this is the favorite food the comparable huge kitchen doesn’t make sense to me.
  But probably all has been requesting by the owners.
  In general, sitting beside each other when eating isn’t my style but facing each other is.

  I LUV THIS TINY HOUSE!!!!!! Why can I not b related 2 the right people. It has always been a dream 2 have my own, so my son & I could have a real home. 🙂
