The Krunk Bunk Micro Cabin

Derek just released his latest video for Make Magazine and it features one of his latest… The Krunk Bunk.

It’s a sleeping loft slash micro cabin that I had the pleasure of being apart of. I admit, I barely had anything to do with it.

A group of us actually built it July 2011 at Derek’s micro shelter building workshop. The purpose of this structure is to hang it up if you have tall ceilings so it acts as a loft.

It can be a sleeping loft or just somewhere for you or your kids to hang out in.

One cool way to use it would be to create an office/work/study space beneath it to double up on space.

Perfect for students and young entrepreneurs. Below is a shot of it hanging in Deek’s basement.

I respect Deek’s work and his incorporation of “found objects” but the dude is SERIOUSLY into coffin-sized spaces! Wha’s up wid dat? Everytime that I’d crawl into one of his “shacks” (to use his phrase), I’d feel as if I were going to get an MRI scan, of which I’ve had a few. 🙁 Again, I respect the serendipity but not the Polly Pocket-sized space; my tree house as a kid had more square footage! Is Deek allergic to sq.footage in the triple digits? LOL
