Those sliding doors are such a smart idea to give the option of more privacy which is not common in most tiny houses!! love it!

Bizarre that they have a V shaped roof… all the water would run off down the middle of the TH instead of at the ends.

Only saving grace is the entrance/exit door is at one end. And no rain catching? How bizarre… oh, right, it’s a BnB rental so hooked up to the mains.

      Eric, it’s called a Butterfly roof… It’s a eco friendly modernist style…

Pros… The upper angle of the outer edges allows larger windows to be used. This gives the home more natural light, lower heating bills in the winter and brings an open feel to the design.

Overall, the butterfly roof lends itself to an environmentally friendly home design, as PV solar panels, water collection systems and natural light can all be easily incorporated… It’s just as you noted this is just being used as an AirBnB and thus those features aren’t being taken advantage of in this case…

While the cons is that this is a more expensive roof design that will also require more maintenance costs… Since, similar to a flat roof, the Butterfly roof must be made watertight and that must be maintained for the life of the house… It may also be problematic if put in a region that will have it deal with snow loads…

Even though this is an Airbnb, Wheel Life builds and sells homes, so you could get this model as a tiny house šŸ™‚

Yes, I would believe that the water coming down, from both sides of the roof, would really pour down the center sides, of the house, on both sides…possibly causing rot to the wood. And snow..can you imagine?
Couldn’t a lot of snow, merging in the middle, cause the roof to cave in? Someone needs gutters!

My only thought is that they aren’t so worried about snow in this part of Kentucky? šŸ™‚ In the North I wouldn’t risk it! Not sure if it would rot the wood, but something to consider for certain!
