I would love to know if there are any tiny houses with just one floor made for people that are disable. It has to be affordable as they are ideal for the older and on fixed income. There can be some nice areas for such places.

There are ADA compliant tiny homes, many builders can also do them upon request. The issue would be price as there’s a minimum cost for ensuring it’s well built and properly meets ADA requirements that may keep it above what someone on a fixed income may be able to afford. Especially, with the present state of the economy.

Many tiny home builders have even started to stop offering custom building because of the rising costs, for example, and construction costs in general are presently very high…

Though, if you can do some DIY and have one modified, you can consider options like the Incred-I-Box from Incredible Tiny Homes in Newport, TN. It’s a basic single level 8’x16′ with just a small storage loft that’s intended for the owner to DIY the finishing, which you can take a step further and make it ADA compliant, and is on sale for $20,000 but if you get a referral number from one of their sales people then it’s down to $19,500… Alternatively, if you become one of those sales people then you could opt to be paid in credit for each sale and after 20 you can get an Incred-I-Box for that credit or get $500 with each sale as commission, it just has to be one or the other when you sign up.

It’s presently the lowest price option I’m aware of short of doing the entire build DIY and using reclaimed materials… While most official ADA compliant homes would start over 4 times higher… There are a number of organizations for helping to get affordable housing. Even with them you’d probably be looking at somewhere around $60,000… Though, in some states, like Georgia, the efforts for providing tiny homes for the homeless are starting to be expanded to those needing affordable housing and they’re starting to develop longer term tiny home options. Just a question of when those homes will be available as this is a fairly recent development and they still have to build those homes.

I will be retiring in a year and am now in the process of looking for affordable independent living. I am currently renting now and lucky to have found a situation that fits my income. But I will need to relocate next year and I will be 66 years old, single and a woman. I would like to find affordable living where there is no landlord involved. Looking to buy an affordable tiny home to be placed on a small lot of land.

I love the colors they used here, but I like others am older and disabled so the stairs are a problem for me.

Depending on your resources, options like lifts would address stairs, etc. There’s chair lifts for narrow stairs, among other options available, for example. Wheelchairs that can climb stairs are also coming to market, albeit still very pricey… There’s also stair assist devices that make it easier and safer to use stairs is still able but just find stairs challenging.

Oh, sweetie, I go to the bathroom probably 10 times a night. That is a nice idea but me and my toilet are not soon parted. LOL I don’t go very often during the day. I guess my bodie saves up for my sleep time.
