This is the Cottage at Hidden Springs in Bentonville, Arkansas shared with us thanks to Matt Trimble.
It was built by myself and the company I work for, Mac Residential Services. This was the company’s first tiny house and I’m proud of how it came out. I was most happy that we got a full-sized bedroom and bathroom into it.

It’s a full-size bathroom like in any ordinary home these days.
The bedroom features a closet. It’s perfect!

A classic and beautiful 400-sq.-ft. cabin with one bedroom and one bathroom. It’s a vacation rental, too, by the way in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Tiny House/Cottage Description for The Cottage at Hidden Springs in Bentonville, Arkansas
The Cottage at Hidden Springs is located in Bentonville, Arkansas, right next to world-class bike trails and just minute from Crystal Bridges Art Gallery. It was built by myself and the company I work for, Mac Residential Services. This was the company’s first tiny house and I’m proud of how it came out. I was most happy that we got a full-sized bedroom and bathroom into it. We used high-quality materials which makes for a sturdy house that will last forever. It’s a very spacious 400 sq ft. Bentonville, Arkansas is growing rapidly and having problems providing affordable housing; I hope seeing how luxurious a tiny home can be will inspire the city to loosen its restrictions.

I like the looks, bright and open, but… I feel my 400sq ft park model has more storage built into it, bathroom and bedroom isn’t as spacious but less time is spent on those areas
You’re absolutely correct Linda. Had budget not been a factor, I would have added more. The common wall between bath/living area is 2×6, and built in shelving could have been placed there (originally AC lines were going in there). The space above the porch is also open and could be used as attic space eventually. I also feel if we had gone with more “tiny friendly” appliances and custom built cabinets, the kitchen could have had a lot more storage as well. As this was built as a rental, we wanted to try to keep the experience closer to a typical home, but I agree if it were mine, I would have allocated space a lot differently.
Finally, a tiny home not on wheels! It’s good to let more people know that a tiny home can be on a foundation, too! My tiny home (500 sq ft) was based on Sheldon Designs micro cottage plan. We played around with it a bit and added a lot of charming and artistic features. It has a lot of wood accents so it feels right at home on my 5 acre lot in the mountains. I love tiny house living!
Hi Kris! Have we featured you and your home? We would love to!
Everything looks really nice, but there is no stove top! How are you gonna cook eggs in a microwave? I would do without the dishwasher before I’d do without a cook top!
My thought is they must have an induction type cooktop you can put out when you need it.
Actually, you can make just about any kind of eggs you’d normally eat, including poached, scrambled, and omelets with a microwave. Some, like poached or scrambled egg, will just have a slightly different texture when done.
There’s a whole range of recipe instructions you can look up for cooking with a microwave. There’s also a range of products specifically made for cooking with a microwave that can make it a bit easier. Along with others you can adapt like microwave safe dish wares, Mason jars (minus lid of course), etc.
It’s just a lot more convenient and easier to cook with a stove top but you can make it work if you had to with a microwave…
Though, it also depends if that’s just a microwave or a convection oven/microwave… as then you’d also have some baking options.
Really nice floor plan and arrangements. It looks comfortable and cozy.
I love this home and could live comfortably in such a home. Some changes: I would prefer a walk in shower, no dish washer, and cabinets under the counter would be drawers.
Hope you can make more, a good answer to affordable housing.
Those are some good ideas.
It really is awesome. Personally I’d rather have a stove top (a 2 burner induction would be great) than a dishwasher. Wouldn’t it sleep 4, rather than the 3 the ad states, if the sofa does in fact convert to a queen-sized bed? The bed in the bedroom looks like a queen or king.
Yes perhaps you could fit 4!
I would have put in a apartment size stove than a dishwasher. I would have extended the kitchen another two feet to have more counter space. Other wise this is a cute home.
Those are good ideas.
A bright and airy home. I love the little coffee stand soon as you walk in,and who doesn’t love not having to wash dishes! As for a cook top there are so many options out there that you can slide into a drawer when you’re not using it. All in all it’s a great little home
Yes I’m all about a dedicate spot for coffee!
I am absolutely enchanted with the space, every amenity you need, and the ambiance of a front porch. I have searched and looked for something like this for myself and this is the design I want. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us.
So glad you enjoyed it!
I love this one level floor layout. Perfect design for seniors if built on a slab with no steps and if there is in fact a walk in shower. (one picture looks like a step in tub, the other looks like it is a step in shower.) I would have to have a cook top and it looks like there is an area to add beside the door into the bedroom in the kitchen area. Maybe even enough space for more counter and overhead storage if it is a 2 burner cooktop. Also, if I knew the design of furniture ahead of time, I would design the windows in the living room to be higher and wider than the way they are as the furniture is covering them at the bottom.
What was the budget for the house? I live in Farmington, AR, and would like more info about the costs. Thanks!
Elaine-
This build came in at about $50,000, a little over budget but we did upgrade some aspects.
This is adorable. I love it!!!!
Do you know how to get ahold of these people that own these or rent. Is there some that I could buy? I’ve been trying to find the article on these.
Thank you
Rose M Cooper
Hi Rose, it looks to me that this was custom-built for people looking to use it as an Airbnb. It’s not something on the market to purchase.
I have a childhood friend in Bentonville (Hayes Olsen~ Realtor) and also in Pickwick,TN. I’ve gotta get out of Memphis. It’s gotten too dangerous. I’d prefer Pickwick area- Savannah, TN. , Shiloh, etc. Just want to be a few hours rs of less from Memphis and close to old friends. U can always relocate to a new town but if you don’t like the people there, It can be a disaster 😆
I’m on disability and 55. Maybe there’s some creative financing or rental. Tiny home is fine. Just me and my 2 older doggies ❤️🐕🐕❤️. I wouldn’t mind buying in a year. My credit is ok. Paying off credit cards to up my score. I ALWAYS pay on time. 😇
