What can I say? The man is a true artist in wood. His unique alproach to space and light is fabulous!

I just LOVE his designs and, if I get lucky enough to win the lottery, I’d get him to design my house. I would opt for an over in lieu of the dishwasher. I’d also get stairs as I’m a bit too old to climb ladders. I believe I saw one of his houses that had stairs. His designs are so unique and serene. I’ll keep my fingers crosses and keep buying those tickets, LOL!

As beautiful and unique as it is which of course is part of the price due to the time spent on the non standard finishes, I don’t think the best use has been made of the space. Each to his own of course, but why on earth does one need a dishwasher in a tiny home built for one or two as per the description. If I am going to spend $88,000 K on a tiny home I would go for a park model with a lot more room and still having a quality interior. Alternatively you should be able to get a 22 ft tiny home with nice quality finishes and well allocated space for somewhere in the 60 thousand range.

Park Models are usually built to just basic RV code for PMRV specification… This means things like using 2×2’s for the wall framing instead of 2×6’s, basic RV range insulation, limited floor plan variations, limited customization options, etc. Though, to capitalize on the Tiny House movement, some Park Model makers have started to offer higher grade options with more customizations offered, just don’t expect it to be as cheap and you’d have to deal directly with the builder company to get these options…

Besides, you’re forgetting Tiny Houses can be completely custom and they actually can be even bigger at up to 500 square feet… If you follow Zyl’s weekly Sunday Q&A sessions, you’d also note that he has stated he’s willing to make whatever size width house you want as long as you don’t plan on moving it much as wider means needing a wide load sticker and special moving permit, which you will probably have to pay someone to do for you and thus isn’t as mobile as the TH’s that stick to the standard road dimension limits…

While a Park Model is set to 398-400 sq ft, because that’s the largest they can go without switching to the higher priced HUD building code, which they will have to follow from 400 to 500 sq ft… They mainly achieve this by going 10-12 feet wide and aren’t meant to be moved very often or very far… So there are trade offs to consider…

Overall, a large chunk of the reason for the asking price is because of how much it cost to build because of the complex building work it required to make, doing things like operating a CNC machine isn’t cheap… But it’s also because it has some high priced equipment/fixtures installed… If it was just the house by itself then it would be quite a bit cheaper…

Honestly for a Zyl Vardos build like this, I think the price is extremely reasonable. Just look at the master crafstmanship! Is it pricey? Yes. But think of the man hours that went into the home, and then the sheer experience Abel Zyl has to have in order to create something of this quality. It’s not a skill you learn quickly, and I’m sure he’s invested a LOT into it. And we are moving soon to a new apartment that again doesn’t have a dishwasher (just two of us) and I am most certainly splurging on a countertop dishwasher now šŸ™‚ I hate dishes! haha So I think that is totally legitimate hehe.

Beautiful Zyl’s Vardos, always so warm and exciting to see what he has done with each one. I have my favorite in mind, but all just so creative.

The most strange and outlandish show their execution difficulties as in this example the windows, it is not easy to create the frames of each window and are different from each other. But if already it’s fun to see a Tiny House on wheels that whizzes on the road polled by a pick up and pass in from of like a hallucination let alone when the shapes are extravagant and eccentric, but artistic irresistibly

What is there to say, it is by Zyl Vardos — absolutely gorgeous! I would love to be able to have him design my new home for me. Would have to take to robbing banks I am afraid. Nice to dream I must say.
