The ONE unit retails @ $49,999.00.

      Not impressed.

        Based on what, exactly?

        • Eric
          December 22, 2019, 3:42 pm

James, I totally concur. And it retails at $49,800… hasn’t even got his/her facts straight.

Had a look at their website. Externally nothing flash. Inside actually quite nice.

Sounds interesting but don’t even say where it is so beware. A nice business model though. There are 100s of private mobile home lots around Tampa with dead trailers cheap. So just recycle the MH and put 1 or more of these on it.

      From their FAQ, quote…

“The Village sits just off a brand new four lane highway with direct access to I-4 and less than a mile from direct access to I-75. The University of South Florida is only 5 miles away, downtown Tampa is only 12 miles and Orlando and Sarasota are both less than an hour.”

I read that and not even remotely good enough.
Without an address, no one should do any business with them.

        • James D.
          December 19, 2019, 1:40 am

Well, they’re not open for business yet… Site says less than 90 days to go for Q1 2020… While initial opening will only be with ten units and some of those are already slated to be rentals. So they may not be seeking anyone to do business with them quite yet and just want people to be aware for when they do open their doors…

Being a new property, though, they may not have been officially given a address yet but can always contact the county officials to confirm as that’ll be part of the official records even if it still only has a temporary site ID number…

So, we’ll see… Caution is always advised but it’s a bit early yet to be sure of anything…

I am familiar with Tampa, I lived in SpringHill and worked in New Port Richey. Is this Village anywhere near US40 or US19 ?

I’m in Gainesville but looking to leave this area in the near future. My youngest child was accepted to several FL colleges including FSU (my oldest child is a senior there now finishing her Bachelors degree in Biochemistry and working as a TA in the Organic Chemistry Lab), FL Tech, and USF. We’re waiting on UF to release their fall acceptance decisions. At this point, my youngest/son Jake is very much leaning towards accepting USF’s offer. If the heads to Tampa, I’ll most likely follow him. I’m hoping this new tiny village will eventually accept other tiny house styles b/c I’m not a fan of any Boho models but I’m definitely interested in living in the new tiny house village!

Retired and thinking about selling home and downsizing. Can’t find any info on what exactly Escape Tiny Home Village is all about i.e. size of site, number of spaces, rent lots? What comes with rent? Any lots for sale? Would appreciate some info as soon as possible, as I’m researching buying into a co-housing community and this might be an alternative for me.

I wonder, will they put some Escape Classics (https://tinyhousetalk.com/392-sq-ft-escape-cabin/) in the village? That’s my favorite model, although the 2BR mobile home is a very close second.

Escape has another property in Wisconsin…they are very well known and are the up and up as far as their business. I only hesitate because of “mass” production. Just know you will be near a university. I personally like their village in Wisconsin but don’t want to live in Wisconsin https://www.canoebay.com/.

@William, this is a site for those of us who are interested in tiny house living, but Alex isn’t a broker for tiny house sales and doesn’t have the information you’re asking for. You’ll need to contact Escape directly, using the “Learn More” links at the bottom of the article.

Rental space pricing for those that buy is actually reasonable. $450/Mo and includes water/sewer and garbage… utilities for power and internet need to be added in, but I have seen so many of these ‘villages’ that want $700 a month or so. The Escape designs are not necessarily fancy on the outside, but look to be practical and probably great for a student. Also, the units are close enough to each other that a WiFi connection could probably be shared by a couple of units.

    • Natalie C. McKee

      May 27, 2020, 10:24 am

What other communities, if any, do you have similar to Escape in Tampa? My preference would be to co-own the land and any amenities if possible. If not possible , I can live with the space rental. I have two Yorkies, so am not eligible to purchase and live at Escape. as there is a one pet rule.

      • November 3, 2020, 11:16 pm

Yorkies are Tiny puppies in a Tiny House. Two Tiny Yorkies equals one dog, in my opinion. I’m sure that others share my feelings about the One Pet Rule.!! 🙂

    Good Day,
Others have added so here’s mine:
needs a ‘community house’ (a ‘big room’ as) a place w/laundry, common space to break dwn bulk products, have parties, rent for outside grps to use, have neighborhood mtgs, performance space, dances, (that ‘3rd space’ all ways talked abt), community dinner, fund raisers, community business, etc…
This cul-de-sac is minimal size (about 16 ppl) I’d shoot for 30. Also get cars to cluster at entry, have ‘out door play space’ (kids, community garden) instead of car space. Attend to landscaping that has beauty and variety (huge native trees, lill ground covers & in-between stories). U have nicely designed habitats (bldgs), quality exterior finishes. Vary a lill (hight, shape, finish) but find a unifying theme (as U have now just vary some more).
Great job here, not much more to change !

Chad, you describe an intentional community or co-Housing community, which is what I’m seeking with small cottages and tiny homes. There are many seeking this type of community. I am purchasing in this type of sustainable eco community in. Costa Rica but would also want to live part of year in a similar Community in Florida or would consider another state. Can we discuss?
