Surfer Couple’s DIY Shuttle Bus Conversion And Their Travel Lifestyle

This post contains affiliate links.

John and Ina (@seawardshuttle on Instagram) bought this former nursing home shuttle bus and transformed it into a home (called the “Seaward Shuttle”) complete with surfboard and bike storage using many reclaimed materials and a lot of creativity.

They’re currently living off of their savings and enjoying traveling and surfing everywhere they go. They claim the bus feels spacious, and there’s even enough space for their beloved dog and a handful of houseplants. Make sure to watch the full video tour from Tiny Home Tours/YouTube below.

They Rehabbed A Shuttle Bus Into A DIY Motorhome Using Reclaimed Materials

The bus was in good mechanical shape, although it only gets about 11 miles to the gallon.

They built the cabinet on the left specifically to house their surfboards.

Ina moved from Norway specifically to travel with John in their bus.

Their bedroom has a garage with room for bikes beneath it, and the doors on the left open up for ventilation and sunset views.

These adorable planter shelves allow a little green indoors. It’s always nice when you can bring a little bit of nature into your space!

VIDEO: Couple Builds DIY Shuttle Bus In Order to Live A Simple Adventurous Life

John and Ina love travel and adventure. Ina is from Norway and moved here to travel with John in the bus. They did a simple, DIY build using a lot of reused items from John’s previous home and things they found, which always makes for a unique build. They love to surf and make sure to always keep their boards close by. They’re currently spending time in Baja.

Love the DIY approach they took, looks great and I love the idea of using a shuttle bus versus a small skoolie. Good fun watching.

It’s a beautiful and comfortable looking van. I like it! Just a suggestion. . .when I started using a cleaning agent in my gas tank (one that cleans the engine), my gas mileage doubled and has been that way ever since. Also, the engine sounds so much better and quieter. I use one that cleans everything about once a month. Otherwise, I add an simpler cleaner every other fill up. It really helps. Enjoy your adventures!

Oh what an awesome tip, Marsha! Would that work in an SUV, too, do you think?

Should work in any engine type. There are cleaners for regular gasoline vehicles and cleaners for just diesel engines, so be careful which one you are picking up.
