This is Matthew Olson’s 80 sq. ft. tiny house that he built for his senior project with Green Meadow Waldorf School.
After raising the initial funds to create the shell (about $6,000) via Go Fund Me, Olson constructed the home in his spare time and will donate it to Fellowship Community, a local nonprofit who will use it to house foreign exchange students learning how to care for the elderly.

It is so very wonderful to see young adults building things so selflessly – just to make the world better. Well done! I applaud you Matthew!
I like his take on an entryway on the end shortwall. It makes a whole lot more sense than breaching a long wall and losing so much potential for other things, especially in a home this small. (A+) Great space saving design!
I would add one comment after watching his video – Matthew states that this is “a relatively new” thing. The Tiny House movement has actually been around for going on 20 years (older than Matthew) so I suspect his perspective comes from people who have just discovered Tiny Houses.
Yeah, people tend to think they’re doing something new when they’re really just re-inventing the wheel for the millionth time in human history… They’re just not aware of all the previous times…
Fun fact, the cabin President Abraham Lincoln grew up in was only 16×18 or 288 square feet…
While nomadic tribes, gypsies, etc. have traveled in mobile homes for centuries…
However, the reasons people are choosing this lifestyle now is relatively new… Including a general rejection of the ballooning costs, erosion of rights, and unsustainability of modern home ownership, along with environmentalism and minimalism reaching broad popularity…
Additionally, there is overlap with all alternative housing options that face similar legal issues and resistance to official acceptances, such as Earthships, Cob/Hempcrete/Papercrete/Earth bag houses, Yurts, Tents, RV’s, House Boats, Tree Houses, etc… with many of them also being Tiny…
The concept of being able to live the way we wish is being realized by more and more people is really now in jeopardy with forced conformity and loss of individuality…
There is still much confusion… Not everyone is fully aware and people tend to be focused to how things effect just them rather than in terms of everyone, and people tend to have a distrust of anything they are not familiar with but the longer this movement goes on then the more people will eventually start to understand just what is really at stake… and what potential has yet to be realized…
It is super clever!

Great start, great project. Would like to see this posted again when you are done.
