What a beautiful home! And so luxurious! If I could afford it, this would be my home (with only slight modifications)! Wow!

    • October 15, 2020, 4:50 pm

Great space with wonderful storage! I especially like the kitchen and bath. Those are two of the rooms that we generally end up sacrificing some luxuries and comfort in, when we live in small spaces. I also like sleeping accommodation on the ground floor. This space has solved almost all of the difficulties that a lot of us have with tiny houses. It’s really well done. Brava!

The only change I would make would be to trade out the combo washer dryer for a stacking system, which would mean losing the cabinet atop the current set up. Everything else is great!

Teresa, that’s how I originally planned it, but my builder discussed it with me and we switched it to this. I have NO regrets! It’s been a super easy thing to adjust to and it gives me so much more storage. I really need that cabinet above.

This is a really beautiful house. I love the kitchen and bath, and the extra loft room is great for kids who have to share a space. I like the living room space and the storage underneath. The only thing that I wasn’t sure about, and maybe that was because the picture was not at a good angle to see, was the “dining space”. The table seems to pull out right across in front of the door, and are there benches that pull out of the adjacent doors on which to sit? If you have that table and benches (chairs?) pulled out, the door is completely blocked, so it would have to be kept put away all the time except for meals, so there is no place for kids to draw, or for crafts. It is hard not to have some type of kitchen table or place to eat that can stay out and not block the flow of traffic. Even I have a table on castors that I can roll out of the way when necessary, but I can still still sit at it with my folding chair without blocking the door. A designated eating area would be nice that did not have to double as a foyer.

    • Kim Schult
      January 18, 2021, 11:07 am

Thank you, Marsha. We love our Finale. Unfortunately, you are correct about the table. It does block the door when pulled out. And you can’t really get around it at all if its pulled all the way out either. But it can be pulled out as much or as little as you want so it isn’t so big. Also, there is room on top of it to be able to push it in with some things still on it – like a half done puzzle or crafting items. We also have special benches that we bought for each side that are expandable to 10 feet and collapse down to 6 inches. We keep them in the storage area under the chaise lounge. But the blue bar stools can be used at the table too. In hindsight, a few changes would have been made to allow for a bit more room. But all in all, we love it and make it work for us! Besides, we’re empty nesters, so most of the time it’s only us eating and we just sit at the counter. You could use that area for kids to do crafts also.

Gosh, this is just a gorgeous home. I love it. So good, so good! I can imagine that your home is so easy to live in. The storage space is more than some houses or apartments I have lived in. You stopped me in my tracks when we got to the bathroom. I was enlarging the light over the sink. Then, the comment said ‘did you notice the light?’ Indeed, I DID! Where did you find it? Just beautiful. And, I love the one in the kitchen. Both are works of art as well as being functional. You did a get job identifying what you wanted & needed and Movable Roots nailed the execution. Really! Just awesome.

Thank you so much, Linda! We have been loving living here! One of the lights came from Modern Lighting. Can’t remember the other one. I just googled modern lights. It was a lot of fun to find those statement pieces. Movable Roots did a great job of making our dream come true!

Wow, storage, storage & more storage. What we all need in a tiny house. This tiny house has plenty of storage & all the great amenities that I would want in my tiny. Counter space & a dishwasher, big fridge. But the most loved part of this tiny house has to be the living space. The sectional & plenty of room to stretch out. I love how you go up steps to the living space. Its just adorable to me.
I really could see myself living in this tiny house. I wish that they weren’t so expensive but that’s how it goes Love it!!!

I like it in general. As many others I would modify some stuff.
Firstly the bed. I really don’t know why almost every THOW builder is using a platform which is hard und doesn’t allow any ventilation. Especially here in FL with high humidity it’s really important and many THOW owners aren’t teenager anymore.
Secondly, I love the huge fridge and freezer under the stairs although I don’t like lofts at all. But the storage areas should be drawers which are much easier to keep them organized.
Thirdly, general storage space. This should be down like shown under the living room but it is really necessary to have them so high? Storage lofts aren’t my thing. Lifting things up where they can’t stay when in the move isn’t very suitable. A at least partly double floor seems to me a much better solution.
Fourthly, dining table. The issue has been addressed already.
Finally, bathroom. Walk through bathrooms are great to avoid hallways but i don’t need a bathtub, a decent rain shower would be preferred and use the gained space for a wardrobe.

Simple, platform loft is the simplest and lowest cost option to build… For larger lofts, people also don’t all put their beds in the exact same location or direction and people still need to be able to move around the loft. While not everyone uses the loft for sleeping. All of which makes it difficult to use a different design without compromising on usage, options, and layout choices.

Not impossible of course, but there’s practical reasons why it’s so common, despite its shortcomings…

Though, an elevator platform would be a way around the lifting issue… Just lower to access and raise to keep out of the way… While rails and tie downs would solve the moving issue… ERV and dehumidifiers can help with humid climates, etc…

There’s ways to make just about anything work, there’s just always trade offs/compromises too…

I was thinking the same thing about the bathroom. The ‘closet’ in the bedroom is too miniscule for most people, I think. Granted, I have a fair amount of clothing because I have to dress nicely for work (read: suits, dresses, etc). But that closet wouldn’t hold much. But, wall off the soaking tub (or conserve space with a japanese tub) and you can squeeze in space for another closet, thereby doubling or tripling the storage space.

The pictures are so bad. Kitchen sink looks like it is a two foot square. It’s a shame that this throw can’t be seen more clearly.

Very nice layout! The Washer/dryer in the bath, which is super spacious is amazing. The raised living area with storage under is amazing. Nice job designer and craftsman (men/women).
