Spacious Open Concept Tiny House Parked in a Legal Community – VIDEO

The interior of this stunning 360 sq. ft. tiny house was built using reclaimed wood from a home that was torn down nearby.  It has a vaulted ceiling, retractable staircase, full-sized bathroom, and a loft bedroom with Japanese-inspired in-floor storage. The exterior has beautiful hemlock siding and bright red accents on the roof and around the windows.

The owner, Pierre, says he bought the tiny house because he didn’t have the means to purchase a conventional house and was happy to have found a place where tiny houses are legal so that he could live in a community and not be alone in the country.  His home is located at the “Les Hameaux de la Source” tiny house community in Lantier, Quebec, Canada.

Very nice layout, and love the concept of creating a tiny house community.. but again as usual. In many of these homes there is lack of closet space for hanging clothes. storage of mops and brooms, etc.. How does one cope or live in a small space without at least one small closet.. Where to they put the said items I mentioned..

Most have storage lofts and sometimes a closet. Also usually have storage under couches, in floors, shelving, etc. Gotta be a little creative when going tiny. An I agree, that was a beautiful house.

Nice work all around even though it has a lot of open space. I am not fond of that stairwell, I would need a railing for support. I guess Pierre is happy living in it. To each his/her own!

Pierre said that he will install a railing in a near future.

For him, its not a question of choice, budget wise its the best for him.

Nice plan, but I am concerned about the missing railings. I realize that railings are a challenge, but injuries caused from missing railings are often not covered by home owner’s insurance. Please do your research and look down the road to the consequences of your decisions.

Good news is it you want one, I’m certain you can get one.

Hello! It does look spacious! Is it wider than the typical 8’6″?

      Yes it’s 10 ft. wide, I believe.

Very nice tiny house…! I would however suggest that he does some repair work by maybe putting a couple of support columns under the one side of the loft where I am thinking water got into the joist from the plants, and caused some rot…! It also supports some extra weight from the Japanese cabinets as well as the plants and ladder on the other side so I would think it would be necessary in order to carry the load..

So nice! What a difference the 10ft in width makes! 🙂
Just put an inexpensive storage unit outside…so don’t need to stuff everything inside… He mentioned he will be getting a little storage unit.

Ya I think those can be great for things like vacuums or outdoor tools, etc.

I like the sunny airiness of this home. It looks cheerful. I would have made storage stairs, with a closet and other storage spaces under the steps. He could use his weight and rope for a dumb waiter, and never have to carry anything up or down. He should put a shelf with a water catching trough for his plants upstairs and a railing . Would look nice with vining plants. I love his garden in front and his big bathroom. He should arrange some space in the bathroom for a washer and dryer. The plan for a community is wonderful. This is a great place. Congratulations, Monsieur, on your excellent choices.

Very nice house; great job. I’m only sorry the US isn’t as sane and progressive as Quebec is.

Love the staircase. Looks very comfortable and well thought out. In floor storage is not something I’ve seen before. Does he recycle grey water? Great to know there are municipalities honouring the tiny-home movement. Nice place, would work well for two.

He has a beautiful home! It doesn’t look tiny at all! It’s bright, sunny, and airy. Great for his plants and they make his house look incredible! His green wall sounds like it will be awesome and a conversational piece when he adds his plants! I love the way he has everything set up! I like how he added doors on his spice cabinet! I love the storage in his floor, that must come in real handy! Awesome tub and love his large bathroom! I love his garden outside along his tiny home which doesn’t seem tiny at all! Thank you for sharing!?
