  I love the exterior of this home. And I find I do not have a problem with a bedroom-cum-sitting room in order to keep overall size down. In fact it solves one of my main problems with lofted bedrooms – climbing steep steps or worse, a ladder. And in this home I am also liking the kitchen — the apple green cabinets are pretty wow. What I can’t live without is some sort of closet for clothing. There is ample storage space in the kitchen. I like the wheeled narrow shelf next to the refrigerator. But where do I hang or even fold my clothing?

    Bedroom has a dresser, storage compartments in the bed, multiple shelving and the one on the wall facing the bathroom has a hanging rod… There’s also a bit of built in storage in the hallway, in front of the bathroom.

      James, I wondered how long it would take you to point out all those obvious things to me. I said, what I want in MY home is a closet where, especially in a room where one sits in the day and may even entertain sometimes, my clothing could be somewhere private. That little chest is not a dresser. It is likely only 24” wide and maybe 24” tall. It is inadequate for clothing storage. The shelves in the room are maybe 8” deep. Again, inadequate for clothing. And I might have books or other things that I may need space for. I saw the compartment in the hall. Might be able to stuff in a couple pairs of jeans and a winter coat. There ARE storage compartments under the cushions on the sofa, but they would not be large enough for the pillows, sheets and blankets needed for sleeping and towels etc. The base for that sofa is only about 12-14” deep. I have a right to say this house is inadequate for clothing a reasonable person, let alone 2 persons may feel they need. I could see what was made available by the builder, but it was insufficient for me.

        Well, you obviously never mentioned those caveats but it’s a tiny house and all designs involve compromise and trade offs. So you have to decide what size is enough for you but if you want everything hidden then you generally have to go bigger. Since, the trade off with a bedroom is it takes up space you would otherwise use for other things like fitting storage spaces.

        Depending on what you need, the total size has to be adjusted to compensate for the amount of space that you need for what you want to be included, which wasn’t done here and they just fit what they could into the existing space and for an AirBNB it didn’t require a lot of storage.

        Though, for some people this would still be more than adequate, the dresser is still a dresser, the hallway storage is the chest, the bed adds to the dresser capacity, and the hanging rod provides a whole wall length of space to hang cloths, but you could always consider some of the special furniture we have shown over the years. Like the folding closet hanger that only takes up very little space that you can replace the hanging rod with that would keep all the closes in a cabinet until you need them and then extend out for you to choose what you want.

        Add, to pack even more into that space, then you could replace that 3 foot dresser with a taller piece of furniture, up to a full height option by cutting down the length of the shelves to make room. Something like a wardrobe can function as both a dresser and a closet, among options you can consider. Like there’s enough room beneath the windows to put the dresser there instead of next to the bed, you can go up to at least a 5 drawer version, and put 2-3 of them along that wall for multiple times the storage, which should still give adequate space to walk.

        While exterior storage can be used for seasonal use. So you wouldn’t need to keep everything on the inside but what you are using at the time. Among other options like storage that can be mounted to the ceiling and lowered to be accessed when you need it…

        After all, it wasn’t designed for you and that usually involves needing to make changes to make it fit you. So you just have to decide for yourself whether you can work with it or not but you have options…
