There’s a LOT I like about this silo house. Especially that different color wood striped door. But I hate tubs that aren’t built in. HOW do you clean around them? Mostly I loved the silo-home.

The clawfoot tub is outdoors so you can just use a water hose or pressure washer… While the indoor one is built in…

Typically, free standing tubs would be placed towards the middle of the room instead of against a wall. If installing one yourself and you don’t have enough room to avoid placing it near a wall or two, just keep enough space between it and the wall to be able to reach around it. Pedestal sinks, for example typically require 4″ of clearance for similar reason…

Otherwise, you’d have to get down on the ground to reach under it to be able to clean around them…

Though, you can have the plumbing fixtures freestanding and separate from the tub, with a detachable drain line. So you can just pull the tub out to clean it and then push it back in place when done…

While vintage tubs can be very heavy, there’s modern ones that are very light and thus easy to move… Alternatively, you can get a hybrid where the side you face will look like a free standing tub but the rest of it is built in…

Nice sofa. BUT…you offer your guest a drink and maybe a snack. WHERE do they put it? On the floor? To be spilled or have the dog snatch it? I always maintain that you need a table, preferably with drawers or doors and shelves, a reading lamp, place for cell phone, tv guide, pencil and paper to jot notes when a brilliant idea comes to you and a place for few books to impress people how literate you are. I suggest a multi-use stand.

Well, it’s on a working farm. So that should be factored into what to expect… But there’s multiple side tables that can be used and there’s a lamp on at least one of them by the sofa… There’s also the breakfast bar that’s actually intended to be used for eating and drinking… There’s a serving tray on the top shelf if you’d rather sit somewhere else…

Not shown, they list an indoor dining table and an outdoor dining area among the amenities… Besides the indoor kitchen they have an outdoor gas grill barbecue area… They can also serve food to guests and when they do a charcuterie board can be provided with food specific to your tastes… There’s books and other reading material, plus board games…

They used the space really well and it has a nice atmosphere to it…yes, very fresh and bright! Though I like the leather sofa, I could do without the cow hide decor, though I can understand that it might tie in with the area and the tastes of some. Lovely rugs and throws would be more inviting but that is a personal preference. The bedroom is dreamy! I like the idea of the outdoor tub…thanks to the privacy walls and door…but without refinishing the inside of that clawfoot, it just looks too dirty for me to find it inviting. It is probably due to wear and tear rather than actual dirt but it just doesn’t look clean. That’s an easy fix, though. All in all, well done! I would like to see one of those much larger silos redone, as well, in addition to these cute little ones.

I have had an antique clawfoot in the last home I owned back in 2002. What you are seeing is simply wear and tear on the porcelain finish, not dirt or grime. The tub is clean. I tried to re-enamel my tub, but it didn’t last long and looked even worse later. I think this house is gorgeous!! You did an amazing conversion. If I visited, I would never want to leave. Love it!
