Hymer’s Self-Driving Motorhome Concept… A Self-Driving Tiny House?

This post contains affiliate links.

This is the Hymer Galileo self-driving camper concept. New Atlas just did a piece about it featuring a fold-out deck. I wonder if there will be an off-road package?

It’s sort of like a self-driving tiny house in a way, isn’t it? Crazy to think… But who knows, maybe someday, pretty soon, something like this will be available, right? Well, not too soon. In the press video, it says year 2030+. Which, hey, that’s not too far off really (can you believe it?). Anyway, check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments. One thing that’s surely coming soon is the concept of a self-driving motorhome! That might be nice for some long days on the road. Do you like the idea of self-driving? Why or why not?

Do they only come with bunk beds? Can you special order one with a Queen? Can you change the configuration so the kitchen is near the front? What’s the price going to be in the U.S.?

It’s only a concept right now they’re playing with to gauge interest. So it may never come to market but if it does then they’ll release information on it.

They’ll be every description you can think of. I warned about this 5 yrs ago as SDVs become viable, in many cities it would be a lot cheaper than rent for a home or office, just roaming the streets.
I do the same thing just with my boat, live in downtowns cheaply.
But they will like Uber/Lyft are doing, clogging up the streets making traffic worse as SDVs grow.
Speaking of living on a boat there are some great boat bargains out there at least here in Florida anyone wanting to live small and low cost should think about. Many under $1k and nice ones under $3k.

Call me even older school… no flipping way. Don’t even think the Jetsons would consider it. It truly is, to me anyway, Megafugly.

If the on board computer should fail, is there a manual override for the human driver
to take over driving, before it goes over a CLIFF!!!

You can call me old school too… but… YES Please! Thank you. I think this is a wonderful concept. It would be like being on your own personal train. You could start your trip straight from work on a Friday night. Just program the GPS for your destination, get on the road, make dinner, take a nice warm bath, put your jammies on, and relax. And while you’re getting a good nights sleep, you’re on your way to your vacation destination. In the morning you can get up, get dressed, have breakfast and tidy up before you reach your destination. So cool!

    LOL! Agreed!
Aesthetically, I don’t think its too awful.
It has some appeal, seen from a “modern euro-esque” angle.
Its just that self-driving feature. That’s just an accident waiting to happen.

Id rather have it cook and clean than drive for me. LOL That and it isn’t very, um, homey. It looks like a robotic office on wheels.

Gorgeous, but very futuristic. I’m more of the Gypsy Wagon kinda gal. 😁
