Secluded Off-Grid Log Cabin in Vermont

This post contains affiliate links.

Looking for a true off-grid experience? This secluded log cabin in Vermont is an amazing little spot on nearly 20 wonderful acres of land.

You won’t have wifi or electricity, but there’s seasonal solar-powered water in the sink & outdoor shower and a wood stove to warm you up! These accommodations are definitely basic, but just what you might need to escape the rat race and get back to nature for a few days.

It’s located close to hiking trails, rock climbing, swimming holes, kayaking, fishing, golfing, mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding! So you’ll find ways to fill your time even if you can’t log into Netflix.

Vacation in this Secluded Off-Grid Log Cabin in Vermont!

Here’s the living space downstairs. The futon folds out if you don’t want to climb into the loft for bed.

But how could you not? Look at that skylight! (Note: The lights were brought in by a guest and run on a battery pack)

And here’s a look at the cozy bedroom loft.

Here’s the indoor kitchen. There’s no refrigeration but you’ll get a cooler.

And the outdoor shower — how magical!

You also have the chance to cook in the outdoor kitchen with this wood stove.

A better view of the whole kitchen.

In the winter this place looks super magical (but the water might not be running, full disclosure).

What a unique cabin! I’d love to stay here for a night or two.

Yes it is rustic and mostly off grid. There must be a hidden propane bottle or tank somewhere for that gas stove in the cabin. And there is a cord entering the building under one window which may be a power cord for the lights shown in the photo with the gas stove. I did not see any wind generators or solar panels. I know one photo had a caption “guest brought a battery power pack” but those lights were in the living room area not the whole cabin. Yes I saw a string of lights by the ladder but the indoor kitchen area appears to have lights to brighten the counter tops. And what powers the water pressure—gravity water flow for cold showers? Definitely a taste of pioneer living with a touch of modernization!

According to Airbnb there’s no electricity at all, but there is a propane tank.

The kitchen area lights are up by the ceiling and out of view by the roof beams but appear to run the length from front to back… So they can be the same type of string light…

While it says seasonal solar-powered water in the sink & outdoor shower, which probably means they have a nearby water source with a solar powered pump that we just can’t see from the cabin… Mind, the cabin is surrounded by trees. So any solar would be best placed further away in a clearing where it can get unobstructed sunlight…

Wood stoves, though, can be modified to provide hot water and even electricity… There’s a fair bit of modifications and accessories you can get for a wood stove these days…

The shower is gravity fed, no pump. There are two solar panels at the cabin, one a passive water collector for hot showers, one to charge a deep cycle battery to power the lights in the cabin.

Perfect for those who want the camping experience without the tent. Very cool. Love the old stove outside
The battery operated lights are great. Used some thing like that one winter when we had a 3 day power outage. gives you enough light to see whats around so you don’t fall.

Thanks for writing up our cabin! It is completely off grid, hike in only. The lights in the kitchen are LED strip lights, hidden behind beams, powered by a deep cycle battery that is recharged by a small solar panel. The shower and water in the kitchen sink come from a stream just up the hill. The water is collected in a small holding tank, then runs through a passive solar panel, and into an insulated water tank. There is a 100# propane tank that fuels the stove inside the cabin.
