both the houses on acreage are smoking hot deals. All that land for the price! This house is cute. Just needs a paint job and you’re good to go.

Paint job where? If you’re referring to the exterior, I think the exterior wood is too weathered to hold paint.

I’m with Kurt. I’d put a new fish scale
slate roof on it and call it done.

Is there water in the cabin or a well on the property?

Appears to be an off-grid set up, photos of the interior show a kitchen but it’s fed by portable water containers… There is a lake nearby and part of the property and other nearby lakes in the area. So it may be too close to a body of water, in some locations you can’t even put a house that close to the lake anymore… So I’d question them about any restrictions in the area/property off-sets, etc…

May only be intended for short getaways… It does have electrical hook up, though. So not entirely off-grid…

The first thought that went through my mind when I saw the exterior was: “rustic…more like dilapidated.” The interior is nice. I don’t like the stairway right in the kitchen area and the bed close to the wood stove flue is a bit of a fire hazard in my opinion.

sooo much could be done with that cabin. Take everything out and start over! I don’t know if I would want to be that far from civilization but definitely got good bones.

The exterior looks like cedar siding that at one time was stained, but then left to age, but it looks in good condition except the trim pieces in the end eave and around the bottom which are probably not cedar. That siding probably has another 20 years on it, but some of the trim needs replacing. The roof looks newish. The valleys are done using a more modern method, and none of the tiles are curling. It looks like modern dimensional shingles in good shape. There is no tar “bleeding” down on top of the shingles from the pipes going through the ceiling to the edge of the roof like you see on a lot of old roofs that have seen their better days. I think the house is in pretty good shape myself. I would take out those modern cabinets and use vintage hutches, tables, and wood stove (or propane) to give it more charm, and then the kitchen could be relocated away from the stairway. I agree with the pipe in the upstairs bedroom. However, it is large enough in diameter that probably has double or triple walls to prohibit heat build up that would be a hazard. Again, it looks fairly modern, so probably had to meet a code or two. This is the most interesting structure I have seen in a while. I like it! I love that Lake access, too. Fishing!! Yeh!
