Riley’s 32ft Georgie Boy Motorhome Renovation (Built for only 5,000usd)

This post contains affiliate links.

This is the story of how a 23-year-old went tiny his own way using a 1991 32-foot Georgie Boy Motorhome that he bought for $1,800 and proceeded to renovate.

The end result is an affordable, mobile, and cozy motorhome that was built at a price that’s hard very hard to beat (a total cost of about $5,000). What do you think? Could a motorhome renovation be worth it? Here’s how Riley sees it.

So how did you first become interested in tiny living?

I graduated college (currently 23 yrs old) and was looking for a way to keep my expenses low, while still having the privacy that an RV gives me!

What kind of RV is it?

1991 32 foot Georgie Boy motorhome.

Why did you do it?

I went tiny to save money! And to have the luxury of gathering up all of my stuff, and hitting the road for an AWESOME roadtrip!

How long did it take you to finish renovating it?

Around 6 months.

Who helped you?

My parents helped me! I bought the camper for $1,800, and after all of the remodels I probably spent right around $5,000.

How do you figure out where to keep it?

I plan on moving around and seeing the sites! I’m currently posted in the backyard of my parents house for the time being waiting for the next adventure!

What’s been the most challenging part about it so far?

Finding new things that need to be addressed… such as water leaks, and electrical problems. But in the end it is all such a great learning process!

What benefits are you experiencing from it so far?

I have the freedom to go where I want when I want! It has opened up new doors as I’ve learned so much about renovation in general as I have inspirations to potentially flip real estate in the future!

What helpful piece of advice would you give to others who are interested in going tiny? What mistakes could you help them avoid?

If you plan on going tiny, calculate a potential expense report beforehand, so that you can stay the course… keep track of EVERY dime you spend so you’re more conscientious of where your money is going!

Incredible build/renovation. I love the interior. The use of space was creatively ingenious.

Very nice. How did you do the walls in the bedroom and bathroom, including ceiling? I love the whole build except for the devils horns statue.

Check out the webiste https://tinyflippers.travel.blog/ for more info on the walls!
The “devil horns statue” is actually just an faux american bison mount we bought at probably TJ Maxx or something!

Nice job man. I’m 73, and I’m going to be selling my house…get out of debt….be free to go whrte i please, and buy almost exactly what you have….a little newer, and I want a diesel pusher….diesel in the back under the bed, and with on slide out. I want a motor home that has the same type of front as yours. Sloped back. I can’t find the name of what they call that. What make is yours?

Great apartment on wheels. Like the colour of the kitchen. Well designed at an amazing price. Wish I’d done that 50 years ago.
