When Jess and her husband were dating, they immediately agreed that someday they wanted to live on a narrowboat. After saving up for more than 2 years, and spending 3 months on renovations, that dream has come true! They have been living on the water in Whiltshire for about a year and will soon move to Oxford and live on the Thames.

What’s your favorite part of their renovation? Could you live on a narrowboat?

Interview:

We live on a Narrowboat in Wiltshire, we bought it May 2022 and spent 3 months gutting it and renovating it to make our dream home. I had lived on a boat before, but knew I always wanted to go back to the lifestyle one day. When I met my now husband, on our first date we discussed how we both wanted to live on a boat and that was it, we saved and worked hard for 2 and a half years before buying our boat.

We have been living in Wiltshire for the last 12 months, we are now heading to Oxford this summer which we are super excited about and looking forward to life on the Thames.

Living on a narrow boat takes a special person but it looks like fun. But all homes have maintenance so there is still work to be done. The closest here in the US is living on the Mississippi in a house boat. Travel North/South with the changing seasons. Great for retired folks or those that can work out of the home..

I love these long boats. They’re so romantic, and living on the water just seems so adventurous and fun. This home is lovely!
