Portable Nomadic Hot Tub For Your Tiny House?

This post contains affiliate links.

When I ran into this portable hot tub I immediately thought of how awesome it would be to use in a tiny house situation so that’s why I’m sharing it with you here right now.

I guess it was created for camping. But why not use it for tiny living too? It’s a nomadic hot tub because it packs easily whenever you need to move it or just put it away.

The heat seems to be generated using either fire or propane. And there’s a water pump that requires electricity and/or this Honda WX10K1AT water pump with built-in 25cc gas generator.

Ouch for $1,175 you can buy 3 Intex or Coleman hot tubs.

Agreed,Kevin. Less than $400 for either one. But then maybe it was a ‘paid for’ endorsement

Hey Art, it’s not a paid endorsement, I just thought it was cool. I thought the price was $550. Looks like the Coleman is $399 at Walmart right now.

Wow, how sanitary is this? I hope the fabric is made from some kind of anti-bacterial plastic like my Crocs…

      Lisa,

Outdoor ethusiasts are pretty comfortable in areas where city folk aren’t As experienced. Mother Nature’s beautiful if you allow yourself to accept it for what it is. Just think of tents, sleeping bags, crawly things, bugs, sleeping under the stars, cooking over a 1 burner stove, eating dehydrated food, surviving whatever nature throws at you, star filled skies, tremendous exercise, backbacking for a week with everything you need to live, in a 35# pack on your back…and actually enjoying a portable sauna is a luxury where a few germs are of little consequence. But speaking of germs it’s a pretty well known fact that keyboards on a PC harbor more germs than any other place, anywhere

Each to his/her own. I’m sticking to a porcelain claw footed tub I can scrub down with bleach, thanks. Enjoy you portable hot tub. I wish you only the very best.

          Lisa,

Ever swim in a public swimming pool Where germs are 10,000 tomes worse than a portable sauna. From the sounds of things , you’re claw foot cast iron behemoth notwithstanding, you’ve not which begs the question, why even wander into a tiny house forum when you’re so negative about the concept?

          March 22, 2015, 3:26 am

No, I have very fair skin that goes from plaster white to lobster red in under ten seconds and then back to plaster white after the burn wears off.

As for wandering into the TH forum: I’m one of the very first members and have been here all along. And you’re jumping to conclusions not in evidence. I’m not negative about the THM, but there are many, many subgroups (like those who go with a loft and those who don’t; or those who want a staircase and those who don’t,) in the THM. As I said, to each his or her own.

Bleach in your bathtub?! What pray tell lurks in its depths that calls for such drastic measures? Hope you don’t have PVC plumbing or that bleach will be bringing you some rather unexpected ‘surprises’ when you least expect it, much less repair expenses . Bleach, really?

I’m a licensed nurse, as is my mother. Bleach kills all sorts of nasty things so you don’t get nasty things (like Shigella, aka Marlow Syndrome.) Here, since you are so concerned about the plumbing:

PVC has excellent chemical compatibility with common household bleach brands, such as Chlorox. It is resistant to solutions of potassium, sodium and calcium hypochlorite, all of which are used in various types of bleach. It is also resistant to hydrogen peroxide, another compound sometimes used as a bleaching agent. Other peroxides, such as sodium perborate and sodium persulfate are likewise compatible with PVC, as are the bleaching liquors used by industry during processing of wood pulp.

I like to use Thieves cleaning product from YL. But any product with clove, eucalyptus, lemon, peppermint ess. oils will do perfect job with bacteria, viruses, germs… Even the ess. oil itself like lavander is excelent and doesn’t disturb the health as chemicals do. Just a thought:-)

Might be worth noting that the $550 is just for the tub itself – their heating coil costs another $650 (though there is a combo deal for just under $1,000).

A bit pricey in my book, but perhaps worth it to some for a hot tub you can take with you and your THOW…

The tub is nice and the price is right! Personally I’m more interested in finding out more about that way cool TENT on top of the SUV! Anyone ever see anything like that before?

What’s with all the bickering back and forth? Isn’t necessary to respond to every comment you don’t agree with and turn the focus to personal attacks? How about if we all try to focus on the subject of the original posts and avoid slipping into public arguments over things that really aren’t that relevant or important?

That said, please don’t take this question the wrong way, Art Steadman are you associated with the newsletter or just another “watcher” like most of us. (This question has nothing to with the above thread.)

I agree with the questions of where the photos were taken, the scenery is fabulous. (I’m betting somewhere in the NW.)

I’d like a report on the SUV tent system as well. I realize it isn’t a tiny house in the usual sense but I find it quite interesting. A couple years ago,I think, there was a post about a pop-up type camper on the back of a pickup. I’d love to learn more about it. I’m getting older and getting down on the ground is becoming more and more difficult. I would love to have a tiny house concept to travel with but I also would need to be able to pull a horse trailer which is why I found the pickup option interesting.

CKM, do you subscribe to the Tiny House Magazine? Volume 2, Issue 23 had two articles about similar, not identical, tent set ups. That might give you a lead on more info.

I think the hot tub is a great idea and a fun extra — hey you could even use as a bathtub with a surround if all you had in your THOW was a shower — I have seen the tents that you can pitch ontop of your vehicle. I am not sure how practicle they are due to the weight limits for items on top of a car or SUV — usually 100 to 150 pounds. Since there are lighter weight children there perhaps the parents sleep below and the kids are zipped in above??

Thanks for sharing the portable hot tub Alex — interesting idea.

This set-up would be perfect for us because we live full time in our large RV on the lake. Has me thinking. Also this thread was a bit much – air it on FB. Everyone else does. Ha ha.
