A custom build 40′ container home with everything you need. It offers plenty of space, downstairs bedroom and is easy to move.
Best of it it doesn’t look like a re-purposed Shipping container for those who don’t like the industrial look.
A bit costly because it appears that they are contractors.
Anyway, a real alternative for expensive smaller TH.

In my opinion the rust is truly undesirable and just reminds us more that it is indeed a shipping container.

Won’t that container weigh a lot? Nice inside though.

Shipping containers are very heavy. This one looks like it has some addional steel siding. Would like to see the trailer that holds it. But I like the rust and think that these guys did a nice job and especially for the price point.

I like the exterior cladding combo of wood siding & rust patina metal. Other than that, way overpriced IMO at 57K+++. The main structure is already built. You can get a top of the line 40’x8’x8′(or 9.5′) container for 4K-6K depending on where you live & a workable used unit for less. I went to their website & also watched the video supplied here several times. After spending 57K you still need to have it delivered & set (shipping+crane+foundation). Claims to be built to cod(e?) Unless there is a stamped set of architectural prints that are building code compliant, this is just another box that can’t be setup legally hardly anywhere. They have seemingly used the least expensive materials inside (faucets, lights, toilet, shower, vanity, cabinets, etc.) which would be fine if it was priced accordingly. I could find no details on their roof system & they state R20+ insulation (where? walls, ceiling, floor, all?). Then, they will add a trailer for 10K, bringing your total cost to 67K++ & you still couldn’t pull it safely with a 1 ton truck. Need a crane to set one of these & they are just not readily portable/mobile. If you mounted this on a flatbed semi trailer you might be able to fly under the radar for stealth living having parked in an unincorporated area.
I’m all for unconventional housing ideas & there are an abundance of these containers in the US. If we could get some laws changed, these are certainly a viable option for many people. I think we have all seen some really nice container build outs.
I’ve owned 2-20′ containers for quite a few years that I use for storage. They are very strong. I transported them & set them myself. (owned a flatbed dump & small loader) The 20′ units weigh about 5K & about double that for a 40′ units. For $60K-$70K+, I think there are a lot better alternatives!!

Can you say ripoff …? Way over priced, and should not be so, as container Tiny Houses should not be so highly priced as almost 70% of the house can be obtained for a fraction of what this builder is charging you for it… ! If you haven’t read any of my comments on container tiny houses, you should read this… In the US alone there is some where in the neighborhood of a few million of these structures that have been abandoned because it cost the shipper to much to have it shipped back to it’s place of origin empty… That’s right empty…! We do not produce enough export trade in the US to have them filled again and shipped back… So what happens to these containers they are left here in ports all over the country and re stacked one atop another for some times a mile on end and as many as 8 to 10 high…! Can you picture how many of these they could fit on an average lot within the US…? Wow…! Big numbers , and that is why in a lot of cases you can obtain these containers for almost next to nothing, usually the cost of having them transported to your location…! That’s right just pay the fuel and time …! Now with some very en expensive tools that you could pick up at any local big box building supply store you can start to work on your tiny house for still next to nothing…! Now what you want on the inside of these containers is a whole other story… But these containers come in uniform sizes in which I believe are 20′, and 40′ so you to can stack them and in many different configurations and build that house of your dreams…! And did I tell you the best part, these structures that you now build are about 43 % stronger than the average house because they were built that way to start with..! Remember me saying how they stack these containers when in port and unloaded from their vessels hold, Well while they are usually packed from floor to ceiling with boxes of goods bound for the shelves of that local superstore, they are very heavy but they stack them in ships some times as many as 15 or more high before leaving that exotic port on it’s way to good old USA… And can you imagine the weight on top of the one on the bottom of the stack… That could be your future tiny house….! Now think about this builders cost to you, and think about what it is I just commented, still want to pay $ 57,000.00 for this tiny house…? Don’t even let me get started about the costs of the wheels under them, LoL…! Use your head, and figure out the numbers…. That’s all I’m saying….

50 k for a home is cheap. Then again, Bigfoot is right. The structure is already there. Maybe these things should not sell for more than 20k.

I agree it’s a cheap price, especially for the size. But “proper” pricing is relative just like beauty, I’m afraid 🙂 — Tiny House Talk Team
