I’m Dreaming of a Pink Christmas in a Tiny House

This post contains affiliate links.

This is Tonita’s Pink Christmas in her beautifully decorated tiny house.

She owns an 8′ by 24′ tiny house on a trailer with an interior of 8′ by 18′ and has put forth great effort to show us all her little home. Tonita, thank you so much for sharing this with us and I hope you can forgive me for getting out to everyone the day after Christmas.

I was spending the day with friends and family away from home so I didn’t have a chance to publish this until now. In a moment I’ll pass it on to Tonita. I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your loved ones and I’m wishing you a happy new year. Thank you so much for your support and readership this year.

I’m Dreaming of a Very Pink Christmas (In a Tiny House)

Guest Post by Tonita of Shabby Chic Tiny Retreat

Here she is, my 8 x 24′ tiny house. The interior measures 8 x 18′. My little shabby chic tiny retreat. When I sit in my home it is like being wrapped in a hug. So cozy, so sweet. So perfect. I dressed her in pink and white for the holidays and the theme ” I’m dreaming of a pink Christmas” seems fitting.

Tonita's Pink Christmas Tiny House (1)

Before I purchased my tiny house I had an idea of how I wanted to decorate it. I was hugely inspired  by a stylist named Sandra Foster who has the most amazing tiny house in the world, at least to me. I prefer it over any tiny home that I have ever laid eyes on.  It is by far my favorite tiny house and blog ever. Her talent and style has inspired women all over the world. Her tiny studio has been in tons of magazines books and on television shows.

Tonita's Pink Christmas Tiny House (2)

I hung Christmas lights in my master loft and also used white fabric draped from the ceiling as a sort of ‘ knock-off’, style of Sandy’s adorable cottage in the Catskills. I want to take the time here to recognize her and hope that she sees my little knock off loft look, as a form of flattery and know that I acknowledge her as the queen of shabby cottage décor. Thanks for inspiring me, to try a similar look for my little shabby chic girl cave and retreat.

Tonita's Pink Christmas Tiny House (3)

A very special THANKS to two special and talented lady’s who’s crafts and art work helped to make my little tiny house more festive this holiday season. Jill from Rose Cottage Chic painted the adorable pink sign with roses that says – I’m dreaming of a pink Christmas that I hung in my window above my table. She mixed her own milk paint recipe for my sign. She  has an amazing website and  also does custom orders.

I also want to thank Michelle, who made the little bunting (the hand made W-I-S-H letters) that are vintage style, which I hung against the mirror above my fireplace. She also made my sweet W-I-S-H vintage tree topper.  It  is a pleasure to do business with people that are so pleasant, who provide incredible personalized customer service. I also loved the thoughtful gift wrap (below picture) that my order arrived in. Michelle has an Etsy shop called Back through time with gifts for all seasons and for absolutely no reason. Both women have wonderful hand made crafts.

I also wanted to include some very interesting information about the color pink which I found on Debbie’s site. By the way, Debbie bought a 320 square foot home from Scott of Slabtown Customs, who is the same builder that built my tiny house. Look around her blog once you are there to see more of her sweet little family home.

May you be blessed this holiday season. Merry Christmas.

This is it, the kind of tiny house I’m dreaming of an have been dreaming of forever! How absoultely perfact an georgous! Just beautiful, it would make sugar plums dance through any woman’s head I do believe. Almost as beautiful as the Christmas decorations God has left outside on the trees here I live, the frost , the icicles, the snow, all glittering like flashing stars they would go togather
Well ! Oh I do so ish I could have something very similar to this! I’d advise for not miss out if you can have one , ome of us who really need it will never have tha chance to even come close to haveing one,mso if you can have it ont miss out on doing so. I believe your heart an soul will pay for it over an over in the peace you’ll gain from it !

While it may be great for her it may be hard for most men to sit there among the frills.

    • December 26, 2012, 3:39 pm

I agree Jerry but I had to share because I know some women will really love/appreciate it.

I bet many women do love it. They seems to really like small, cozy things like tiny houses so their needs are a big part of the movement and be catered to. They see to get small with eff, lower cost and less work to care, pay for.

I noticed it in small cars too where they will be the biggest buyers of the smallest ones. They really love my small EV’s like my Harley servicecar size EV trike pickup done in clear wood/epoxy body/chassis. Even more than men do.

    • December 29, 2016, 2:43 pm

FYI–Yes, it is feminine, but most men do not notice the “abundance” of masculine tiny house interiors out there. These are the ones with dark wood, metal and even industrial looks. Although some women may like these they are not very girly or soft. namaste’, rachel

We currently live in a 1500 sq ft home that pretty much looks like this THOW. We have lots of guest and the women just love this stuff for sure. But many of the guys also say how cozy and welcoming it is. As long as I have my shop to work on my cars and leatherwork my wife can decorate our THOW however she pleases. The house is hers and the shop mine.

Love the fireplace mantle and the gingerbread woodwork in the door frames!

Where do you store all the decorations after Christmas?

Alex, I’m with Mary on this–where does out-of-season stuff get stored in a tiny house?

Tonita, I’m glad to see your post today. I found Scott’s Slabtown Customs on Youtube a few months ago & immediately subscribed since he seems to be the closest tiny home builder to my home state of MO. Hope you have many lovely years in your tiny home.

      • December 27, 2012, 12:50 am

I’m thinking my seasonal stuff will either go in the garage or in a small attic storage space. Christmas is one of those downsizing areas I will have difficulty with… about five good-sized boxes of difficulty with. (Yes, a small garage for my small house-too much hail, wind, ice and snow here for another winter without that feature.)

You might check out Little Cedar Log Homes, too. They are south of Jeff City, seem reasonable, and will build any size you want. You can get a house framed with log look siding, or square cut logs, although those take more maintenance, I’m told.

        Proceed with caution.

          Thanks for the warning Casey.

      • December 28, 2012, 12:24 pm

Great question on storage Mary. You know, I don’t know. I think you have to get pretty creative with that. If it were me, I’d build a shed to store stuff like that. But for some it might fit in the loft space or in boxes underneath the trailer or something like that.

  • December 26, 2012, 3:55 pm

Well, no one could say anything clashes. One of the nice things about tiny houses is that people can have them the way they like them. It wouldn’t do it for me but it’s fun to look at.

I love this! So feminine, bright, and sweet. Most of the tiny houses I see have that knotty pine interior, which isn’t my favorite… nice to see one that has a different look. Thanks for sharing!

I was thinking a house painted white inside would appear larger. It does. Very personal little oasis she has there. Well done. Thank you, Alex, for posting a house not typically masculine, but well-arranged and spacious looking. Every thing you show us gives us more ideas for our future homes.

This tiny house is so cute, I can’t hardly stand it, it’s so cute!!! I would love to see the floor plan. It appears as though the loft bedroom ceiling is tall enough to almost walk upright in. And the cabinet space in the kitchen is out of this world! It’s too fabulous for words! Well put together and very well decorated! Bravo!

Gorgeous! I don’t like too much frou-frou or pink normally, but this is done beautifully. I love the house itself (what I can see of the bones). I’ve done mine in bright, vivid, gypsy style, gender-neutral colors. But you’ve done such a nice job with your own chosen theme that it’s an inspiration to us readers! Happy New Pink Year!

    Oh Alex!
You really did excellent with this post. I kept dreaming about a tiny house with a dormered loft and soft light and WHITE now here I see one way to do it. Take Deborah’s “upstairs” addition, her textiles and a couple of tweaks and a few dreams!

I agree with Suzanne, who posted earlier: I, too, am not much for the ‘frou-frou’ of pink and lacey, etc., BUT… this vintagey-cottage confection is decorated beautifully and with restraint in areas that need it, delicious abandon in area that scream for it… I just want to tuck into the luxuriously-gypsy loft bed above the chandelier and behind those pale wispy curtains and twinkling lights and take a winter’s nap!
The kitchen is delightful, too, feeling much more spacious than its actual footprint, so I’d be very cozy there making a foamy mug of hot chocolate or espresso after waking from my nap…
    ahhhh….
    Well done!
Sending you “kudos, where kudos is due”:
    Viva le Pink!

Looking beyond the pink and frills (if that’s possible), I like the way the layout has been reversed from, say, a Fencl type layout.
I.e. where the indented porch would be has been turned into a bathroom and next to it a bedroom/daybed (which could be a desk or office space), leaving the rest of the space for a kitchen/dining/living room.

    • December 28, 2012, 12:33 pm

I love love love this house!!!!!! If I had land and the ability to build it I would do so and move me and my two kids into one of those. Want to downsize so much from a large 4 bedroom where the utilities are crazy. It would be a major life change but I bet quality of life would be improved. Love all your decor and the white really brightens ups the small space. Oh and you have more kitchen cabinets in that little place than I do in my big kitchen.

Alex I had contacted the builder. He said it can be built wider if you wanted. If it was 12 feet wide, the nook next to the bathroom would be big enough to put in a queen size bed and have a down stairs bedroom. At it being this wide you can move it still but have to have a different permit for it to be on the road.

    • Alex
      May 12, 2014, 2:17 pm

Thanks Maria. At 12′ wide I believe it’s considered a Park Model and yup just like you said need a permit to tow it or you can hire that job out whenever you needed to move it.

I’ve seen this TH before several times over the years and it has only gotten more and more beautiful. I envy anyone who could have a delightful little nest like this for themselves. I’ve always believed that at the end of a long day, when you walk through the door you say to yourself, “Thank goodness I’m home!” and a fabulous TH like this is just what the doctor ordered. Great job

I envy anyone who could have such a fabulous TH. I’ve always believed, at the end of a long day, it is a blessing to walk through the front door to a place like this and be able to say to yourself, “Thank goodness I’m home!” Great job! Merry Christmas Alex –
Tonita here, the owner of the above tiny house. UPDATE – I still have my tiny retreat but I needed something a wee bit bigger after trying on my tiny house for size. I sold my large 3 bedroom, 3 bath home in WA state and bought a sweet (570′) vintage farmhouse online, sight unseen here in the beautiful Appalachian mountains. My girl cave -the shabby chic retreat sits on my land near my farmhouse, but is just way to teeny for real life, full time living, for me anyway. I notice a trend with some folks up sizing from their tiny homes these days. Some of that has to do with all the problems and issues of finding legal places to live in them. And others are just feeling too squeezed in and desire more space after they tried out tiny living. I am shocked at how expensive tiny homes are these days. One can buy a great stick house on land in wonderful areas of the United States for much less than many tiny home builders are selling tiny homes for. I hope you have a Happy and Joy filled New year. Many Blessings.
