This is the Keva Tiny Cabin on a foundation in Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.

It’s a beautiful little home that was actually built on a trailer but then they removed it and put it on a foundation once they got it on site. Pretty interesting, right?

This is the first ADA compliant tiny house on a foundation completed by Tiny SMART House. It features a really cool murphy bed that also works as a desk. Pretty awesome, right?

I think you’ll love this tiny house because it’s tiny, but not limited to 8’6″ wide because it’s built on a foundation. This makes it really comfortable and appealing to maybe your significant other who’s not into living too tiny. It also features a doggy door. Anyways, give it a look and let us know what you think in the comments below. Thanks!

These are the plans to the 570 sq. ft. British Columbia small foundation home. It’s designed by Robinson Residential, and if you are looking for something to put on land, this home might be it!

The British Columbia-570 small home plan pays tribute to Frank Lloyd Wright’s contribution to residential architecture. His idea that one should “Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature….” is echoed by this beautiful province. His Usonian homes were designed to be affordable and comfortable using simple materials and construction featuring walls of doors and windows, built-in furnishings and cabinets. The large stone fireplace is the heart of this small home which features:

Large living room and dining room with bands of horizontal windows, wood beams and vaulted ceilings
Exterior doors from the kitchen, dining room and bedroom
1 bedroom, 1 bath

Check out the pictures below and follow the link to purchase the plans. Enjoy!

We got a tip last week that Cook County, Minnesota is tiny house friendly, but I wanted to double-check before spreading a rumor.

I contacted Bill Lane, the Planning and Zoning Administrator for Cook County, and he straightened out the details and specifics for those of you interested in going tiny in Minnesota. It’s certainly not a free-for-all, but they are more receptive than many counties!

In short: You’ll need to build on a foundation (or remove the wheels) and comply with zoning and building regulations (and pay taxes!), but it can be done.

Take a look at some pictures of Grand Marais, named one of the coolest US small towns by CNN, and then read what Bill told us below!
