For 60sq’ very nice interior well done. I’d made it wider to 8′ at little more cost or went more boat style built in furniture. But fine as it is for those who can handle such a small space..

Not fond of the tin on the side unless it opens up into an awning. Better, an awning made from solar panels.

I love tiny houses. I dream of tiny houses. The one thing I don’t understand is why I’ve never seen one with a deep sink. In such small spaces, a deep sink would solve many problems. I’m currently living in a two-room apartment with a sink that is 4″ deep and 12″ wide. It is nearly useless. Enlarged by width and turned into a deep sink, it could stand in for all sorts of things: a place to wash my hair when I don’t need a shower; a place to wash my dog; a place to soak big dishes; a place to wash out soiled towels before throwing them into a communal washer; a place to tip in a big box of fruit bought cheaply at the farmer’s market. And on and on.

I have no building or plumbing experience so perhaps I don’t understand why this wouldn’t work. If it would work, I’d love to see someone do it.

I’m totally with Meg about the sink! Those tiny bar sinks are useless, and for not much more a full depth stainless steel laundry sink can be installed in a space not really that much better, and be much more useful. For instance, there is plenty of room for such a sink in this kitchenette, with a fold-up counterspace where the undersink curtain is now…

But all in all, a brilliant use of space that immediately got my mind jumping all over with “improvements/tweaks” I’d want to make.

It’s lovely. It would be great as long as you never wanted friends over! 😀

My only concern is the composting toilet being so close to the food prep area.

12k for that???? Its a good 6k over priced! And a person would have to be at least 6ft tall to reach that refrigerator.

Thank YOU, MotherLodeBeth, for also noticing the price point for SIXTY square feet of space!!! Every time I view a tiny house for sale, I run the c.p.s.f. on it (cost per square foot) and most of these tiny home “bargains” come into the range of $300-$500/sq.ft.! THAT is the cost of real estate in some of the pricier sections of Chicago real estate! This unit sells for a whopping $208/sq.ft.!

Is this clever? Yes. Is it cost effective? Hell to the no. Anyone that has $12,500 lying around could buy a good used pickup WITH a fully equipped camper on the top. I see them for sale up and down the rural road where we live in Michigan and they are truly a bargain. If you can find a place to drop a tiny home on wheels, you can also find a spot to “drop” the camper and support it. Many trucks also have independent campers on wheels for sale, usually by retired folks that don’t fancy traveling any longer. Then, you also have a vehicle to haul your arse around town. LOL

It’s a quarter the cost of a slightly larger tumbleweed and about a years worth of rent at a nice apartment!!!! It has everything one person needs to survive and cost half as much as a used car!!! Your comparing a brand new custom built micro home to a used truck camper, wow! It’s by your own words $300 less a sf than most tiny homes!!! Why do you think they are for sale all over for so cheap?!? Have you ever seen a 20 year old travel trailer that haven’t been covered?!? I have and it was scrap metal! Geez!

You should know what your talking about before speaking… 6000 in materials what about labor and profit? I guess he should work for free so lazy people can get what they want without working OR paying for it?

If you think 12k for a ultra micro tiny house on wheels that looks like an out house is a fair price… fine.

It is poorly designed. Who in their right mind sticks a small refrigerator UP high above a sink?

Like the white walls and wood floors. Now tell me how many of these has the man sold? And to whom?

Actually square footage wise its cheaper than most tiny homes and still has everything a tiny home needs. Poorly designed?!?!? 60 sf with fridge, cooktop, microwave, shower, toilet, closet, shelving, tv, and couch w/ storage. Whats wrong with a mini fridge above a sink? From the looks of the website they have sold at least 3 and from the looks of the facebook page they are building more!

Ps. dont be so negative, my momma always told me if you dont have anything nice to say then dont say nothin at all!

Haven’t you ever heard of modification? Bring the frig down. Larger sink? no problem. I think the price is very fair considering a Trillium/Scamp type 13′ camper with the bells and whistles can run upwards of $20k, $12,500 is a bargain! What I would like to see is a wet bath. It will save room leaving more for storage.

I agree MotherLodeBeth! I can’t believe all the comments from people saying what a great deal this is. No wonder the builders get away with overpricing tiny homes.

I’m currently building a tiny home. It’s 10×10 and my costs are going to be just under $2000 (and it’s not gonna be cheap looking). It’s not on wheels so add a couple grand for a trailer and you can see final costs and how much the builder has jacked up the price of this one. I understand making a profit but there’s a limit before it’s highway robbery so to speak.

I like it. I’ve been looking and thinking about an option for a very lightweight, compact trailer that could actually be used as a travel trailer, but offer a lot more comfort and class than what the plastic, generic interiors of the RV market offer.

As mine would be used as a retirement home eventually, I’ve been paying close attention to first floor level beds. Two options I would consider would be a slide out bed, that slides underneath the kitchen floor then pulls out into the living area when it’s to be used. This would only neccessiate a couple of storage steps up to the kitchen level. This would also allow for a lower, overall trailer height to make traveling with it easier. I’ve seen similar designs in a few tiny houses.

The second option that I haven’t seen incorporated yet is a hammock for sleeping. I use a hammock for camping and it’s VERY comfortable if you do it right. Could just be hung out at night, rolled up a put away during the day. I think this would be the most compact solution. Could also be incorporated into more conventional tiny homes for additional sleeping space when needed.

    Just a few thoughts…

Not bad. Some things I would change to suit me but then I’m 5’1″ tall. The price – in line with a lot of tiny houses, but still way out of my budget. Which is why I’m designing and building my own. In the meantime, I’m looking at everything in the tiny house genre and putting pieces together.

Well, I like the inside, outside, upside, and downside of this tiny house. Next to Jay Schaefer, Joe, you are my favorite builder of tiny homes. You have a cunning way with space and your homes are always aesthetically pleasing. I really like the outside! And of course, the hide-a-way potty is adorable and smart. Wishing you the best of luck as you continue to amaze us with your talent!

You know for someone like me who wants to drive away, it’s a good price. I looked for the houses the MLBeth built but could not find them. Oh well. But make my potty flush, boys. Momma is old. Thank you!!
