Off Grid Solar Tiny Cabin with Yurt Guest House

I thought you’d also like this off grid solar tiny cabin this morning.

And it even has a yurt nearby that functions as a little guest house for visitors.

This is the off-grid homestead of Dan Timmerman who is a cyclocross racer.

His teammate, Dan Chabanov, photographed the home which is in the Finger Lakes of New York.

An off grid homestead wouldn’t be complete without some chickens.

And of course a little room (and privacy) for guests.

Sure reminds me of my old Yukon shack days. Nice to have a space for guests too.

I live in the Yukon. Our trapline is a fly in. Our cabin design came from This site. We built it from logs. But it’s solar powered when the sun is up. Many fouls live in small cabin homes as they heat easy, and perform their function. Living like this has freed my wife and I from debt and stress related to rolling costs of large condominium living. We’re now under 12,000$ a year living expense. That’s what life is about. Getting out there not slaving to the energy companies or the banks. Cheers

Reminds me of a Few quotes by Thomas Jefferson …A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have. Thomas Jefferson

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe. Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.€Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.€Thomas Jefferson

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” Thomas Jefferson

“My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.” Thomas Jefferson

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” Thomas Jefferson

“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” Thomas Jefferson

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” Thomas Jefferson

“To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.” Thomas Jefferson

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” The Federal Reserve Bank (The FED) is a private bank.” Thomas Jefferson in 1802:

How can you even tell what it looks like when you have one picture of the outside, one picture of a messy room, a picture of two chickens, and someone walking into a tarp covered shed of some sort?

Correction, 2 chickens and 1 rooster!

The two in front are roosters and the one in the back is a hen. They’ve kinda got it backwards! Better to have two hens and one rooster keeping chickens. Hens lay eggs, roosters wake you up crowing… on second thought, maybe all three chickens should be hens! Very livable looking little cabin. I’m fixing up a camper that somebody was fixing it up for a woodstove inside. Will have to redo some of the walls but for what I got it for it was a decent deal. Maybe should put up some before and after pictures on here.

The outside looks very poorly made, looks like warped boards, gaps, no protective coating, etc. Didn’t see any mention of sleeping accommodations in it. No mention of a loo either, so I suppose that is outside. And whatever that ‘spare room’ is, it is not even close to being a yurt. The only part that interested me is the solar, and there were no details on that at all.

when people were living like this because they had to, (17 & 1800’s), they died off in their 40’s.

It’s nice to see interiors with actual people living in them. It’s a much more realistic view of what it’s like to live tiny/small. I only wish there were more pictures to enjoy!
