As I am also moving cross-country – TO Asheville, NC – this caught my eye. I’m not in the market for a tiny house – although if I had extra cash this would make a great guest house behind my own (still in the planning stages) small house. But I poked around the interwebs and found more info for anyone who is interested in this:

Young Lady Builds Tiny House for $10k in 10 Months

Cherie built her tiny house on wheels in North Carolina for about $10,000 in only 10 months and she did it without the help of a builder.

Her tiny home has a solar panel, rain gutters for water collection, and is built right onto an 8×16 trailer so she can legally tow it and move it if she wanted to.

Cherie has a 12V LED porch light on the covered front porch. When you go inside you’ll see she has a kitchen, bathroom, living area, closet, and upstairs sleeping loft. She built her tiny house on a 8×16 trailer. It has a custom built 2′ wide screen door she created with a decorative sun on it (see below). Cherie also created her own door mat from rope which you can see in the video below. And she even harvests her own spring water from a nearby spring whose water originates underground.

Forgot to Intro the above: As I’m moving across country to, but in the opposite direction TO Asheville, NC, this caught my eye. So I dug around and found more info for those who might be interested.

This tiny home shows how simple Off Gried can be achieved and it doesn’t need an investment of 50k+

This a very nice home and I think we all can agree on that. I’m just curious, if you built the home for $10k why are you selling it for $23k? Did you add something?

      Sure. Sweat, tears, and labor.

You act like she wired it and put in plumming! I didn’t ask you anyway!

Whoa, dear – is it past time to take your meds?

She DID build it herself – there is no plumbing (not “plumming”) and while she admits she got a little help with the electrical, I figure she gets to take credit for the vast majority of the time and labor that went into it.

I was merely pointing out that she is entitled to charge something for her design, creativity, time, labor and materials, just as any other craftsman would do.

And since you DID direct your hyperventilating remark toward me, I’m entitled to answer this time. Heck, I was entitled to answer the first time. Get a grip.

Wow, imagine that, a spring that originates underground.
They all do. But that does not automatically insure that the water is potable without treatment.

I never, ever start an argument, especially online with someone I don’t even know. But it seems to me any self respecting person who was simply making an innocent comment has the right to defend themselves when someone totally misunderstands what they are saying and gets personal. Unless you read Porcsha’s response to be a calm one, spoken while genially chuckling to herself. Perhaps I misunderstood her intentions. But I chose to respond in order to 1) clarify my original remark, and 2) make it clear I didn’t care for the vitriol that was being directed at me.

Then there are those who prefer to jump in, stirring up a debate that was not only over and done with but with which they themselves had nothing to do…but perhaps I digress. If the moderator agrees with you, he can delete my remarks, no hard feelings. If not, everyone can rest assured I am done “raving” (now there’s a word someone who wants to keep the peace should use) despite my right (and perhaps even obligation) to do so when I am being called out for no wrong doing on my part.
