Looking for a lovely place to live in your tiny house — legally? The Acony Bell Tiny Home Community sits on a gorgeous 56 acres of land and is entering its second phase of development to provide even more spots for tiny home dwellers.

The community accepts tiny homes and park models under 400 square feet and 40 feet long, and encourage builds from local businesses. It has both long-term rental sites, and short-term Airbnb sites, which are separated. Lot rent for long-term rentals includes water, sewer, garbage, recycling, and common area maintenance. While rent varies by spot, it’s around $550/month.

Communal amenities include community gardens, edible landscapes, walking paths, a mountain bike trail, stocked fire rings, and a Community Center. You’ll be living among people who also want a minimalist lifestyle! Tours are given Saturdays from 9-12 by appointment, but you can see some pictures of the space below.

Oh what a fabulous idea……I so wish I could do this for it has been a dream of mine for a decade now to have a tiny house….have the income on a monthly basis yet no down payment to do this. So will dream some more! A garden is a must for me so I can grow my prized tomatoes and flowers.

Not that I recommend going into debt, but there are a number of tiny house builders who will let you finance the majority of the build. It could still be worth having a tiny house “mortgage” depending on what you currently pay in rent.

how far from asheville? I always wonder how far these TH villages are from goods and services. I dont wanna drive an hour each way to go to the grocery store, the doc or the dentist, or auto dealer for service, so on and so forth.
Now, if you grow your own food, fix your own teeth, repair/service your car, cure your own cancer, etc etc ad infinitum, and can work from home, gopher it. 😉

If you use the link, there’s more info on the community. It’s in Mills River which is about 19 miles from Asheville.

We really appreciate Natalie’s wonderful articles. Thank you so much for the kind words.
Unfortunately we shut down our office today so I could have a medical procedure and will not reopen until next Wednesday. Please be patient and we will return emails when we reopen.
        Thanks again so much.

I am very interested as I have recently retired just under a year. I am looking forward to a new chapter in my life and love North Carolina. I use to work in Boone for 4 years and loved that area as well, and Grandfather Mountain was a fun time to visit and the view alone was worth except not when is starts to get cold out and the water from the mountain and run off , yes turn to ice runs. LoL. I will be watching for further up dates its the perfect area and not to far from the main cities if needed.
