Mønhuset H-Shaped 1087 sq. ft. Farmhouse

This is another lovely design by Mønhuset, a Scandinavian tiny house builder who just opened up shop in Canada, bringing their amazing pre-fab designs to North America. This “small house” clocks in at just over 1000 square feet, and is set up differently than any home I’ve seen before!

There are two main buildings, connected by a breezeway (that can be closed off from the elements). In one building you’ll find the kitchen/dining/living rooms, and in the other, three bedrooms and a bathroom. It’s a great design for families, where kids might be napping while others are bustling around!

I do not know, who translated the title of this house. Something has gone wrong in translation on the Canadian website. The website houses should have been called “Courtyard house”, “Longhouse” and “L-house”. This one is a “courtyard house” according to the Danish website.

I think the courtyard part is considering the SIZE of the house would fit in a courtyard, not that the breezeway counts as a courtyard.

No, he’s talking about the names given for each house design has a discrepancy between the Danish and English/CA websites versions.

The Danish version lists them as Farmhouses, Longhouses, and Angle Houses. While the English/CA site has them as Courtyard House, Farm House, and Long House… The discrepancy seems to be the Courtyard should be the Angle House, which fits what it actually looks like…

The design showcased in this article is the Farm house, the 2 deck areas are referred to as the courtyards with the house modules arranged in a H-Pattern with the breezeway connecting the middle of that pattern…

I don’t see any prices. Does anyone know what these start at and if they are available in US?

They are available in the US, yes. Pricing I think will depend a lot on the site location. The company goes beyond just selling a kit or prefab, they also help with the site design and permitting, from what I can tell. But they have a brochure you can sign up for (PDF) and I’m sure they can answer questions.

In the photos it looks like the modules’ roofs come together in big valleys, but surely this can’t be the case? That would be terrible design in Scandinavia and just about anywhere else.

Valleys aren’t automatically an issue for every roof design or location. Modular structures also tend to be built stronger than regular ones, as it makes it easier to meet code and be transported without worry of damage in transit. While gutters, overhangs, and other features of a roof can matter more than the shape of the roof.
