Everything is very pretty… but the floor plan & pics have me terribly confused. What’s where? What has that red stool albeit pretty have to do with it being a tiny house? Hearing about “purples and sage” is nice (and obvious) but it’s much more helpfully to know square footage an especially, in this case, a description of the floor plan. A real floor plan would be even better!
Just a few thoughts I had while enjoying this pretty home. You guys all do a GREAT job with the postings. Thanks for the hard work!

This is exactly what I’d like to build at our waterfront property. Weekends for now and maybe all summer long in retirement. I’d say this house is probably 864 sq. feet (or less). Maybe 24 x 24 down and 24 x 12 up. I was playing with the idea of a 24 x 24 space with a loft but the built in steps will be better than a ladder to a loft in old age!
Thanks for the postings and where can I get a copy of the blueprints?

That’s beautiful – but it is nobody’s home, that’s for sure.

It is a lovely display house, though. With lovely displays of many lovely things everywhere. 🙂

I looked through the photos and thought – lovely – but I wanna see some shoes lying around and some crumbs on the floor. 😉

@Kathy Dome MountBlanc ·& Gerri Sefi

Good grief… a cabin is a house and a house can be a cabin. Congratulations on your nit picking semantics.

It has 1 bedroom, singular, as in less than 2 bedrooms. That to many/most people would qualify it as being a “cabin”. Apartments aside of course. So, what really was the point of your comments.

Even though the AirBnB calls it a house, and the owner refers to it as his house, it is still small enough to. for most people, be called a cabin. Yet there are people in the world who would refer to a 2000 sq ft residence as a cabin. So what?

Were your comments constructive and useful? Sadly no.

Well Eric, I’m glad you’re here to police the rest of us. The fact IS, as I stated, it’s NOT a cabin. Not even a little bit, so what really is the point of calling it that?

How about this? Maybe the point of calling it a cabin is that the author wants to write an article about THIS particular house, (because finding relevant content DAILY is difficult). However the blog is about TINY houses, so to rectify that she inserts the word ‘cabin’ where it doesn’t apply and I just find that misleading and annoying.

It’s not designed like a cabin. It’s not small like a cabin might be. It’s just not a cabin. Ask a hundred people on the street if you would call this a cabin and I think a hundred people would say no. I don’t care that it’s not small, I think it’s lovely and I like looking at big houses as much as I like looking at small houses, but I DO care that they call it something it’s not.

And to the constructiveness of my comment. I think the quality of many of the articles that tiny house talk is putting out these days is less and less without Alex and I’m hoping that if enough people comment to that effect instead of just unsubscribing, they could actually rectify that.

      Here’s a title. “Lovely asian-inspired small(ish) house on Airbnb.”

AND it has TWO bedrooms. One upstairs for the owner and one downstairs that he rents out and which they show pictures of on Airbnb.

    @Tisha Emery

Your response doesn’t answer the man’s question. He asked how much it cost to build. Not how much it costs to buy. Not is it a rental. No, he wanted to know what the construction costs were. The fact that it is on AirBnB is totally irrelevant to what he was asking. Mouth open, foot remove….ahhh, that’s much better.

And for that matter, your nasty responses to Tisha Emery was incorrect. Her response was perfectly appropriate. The man asked what the house cost, and we don’t know what the house costs BECAUSE as she replied, it’s a vacation rental on Airbnb.

So how much did it cost to build?
    And it is lovely.

good lord, people. can’t we all just get along.
Merriam Webster defines cabin as ” a small, simple house made of wood” MW meaning does NOT state “…simple house less than 400 sf …” I agree with Eric. Choose your battles. I once owned a cabin by the lake that was 1200 sf and it was STILL a cabin.

I love what was done on the inside, very creatively done! But I can’t say the same for the outside. Had to look really hard to vision what the inside would look like.
    Anyhow, good job!

    Kathy Dome:
Could our crew live in a TCOW (Tiny Cabin On Wheels)? We used to think we used to have a THOW, but thanks to you, our ‘rose is just as sweet’! Blessings, dear one!

    Now, onto this example:
We like the atrium/courtyard look. We like the quaint old-fashioned telephone nook. And, as explorers, we are drawn to the stairs, promising the mystery… what could be just around the bend!

Very nice; not sure it qualifies as a tiny, or even small home. It is however a great layout, love the interior. Nice job!

It’s a shame most of the little houses these days are airbnb’s. I don’t begrudge people wanting to have them to have a source of income, but I wish there were more small and tiny spaces to actually live in: owning or renting. I live in Asheville and the rent here is ridiculous for a city that regularly only has pay scales of, say, $11/hr. (if you’re lucky) to have nowhere that a person can live reasonably. Afaik, tiny houses are still illegal here.

Hi, Lee Ann – They are making “park models” now, which are 399 sq.ft, and a lot of them have great loft plans. I’m going to tour the Tiny House Village near Austin, TX tomorrow to see their models in person. They’re so cute, and very well made. Here’s their website: http://www.modularhomesaustin.com/tiny-house-village.aspx. The challenge is finding a lot that will accept a house under 650 sq.ft. They have some “villages” sprouting up in Austin, but they’re on the outskirts, and a bit of a drive into town. But if you don’t mind being a little further out, depending on what state/town you live in, then you have a lot of options.
