Man Converts Shipping Container into Tiny Home on Wheels

Hi Alex and Tiny House Newsletter readers, I’ve recently completed (and sold) a 20′ shipping container conversion.

I did it all almost on my own with the exception of electric and plumbing, working out of a storage unit and wanted to share it with you.

It’s just under 160 sq. ft. and has a full kitchen, bathroom with toilet and shower, flat screen TV, and more.

I think this is beautiful. It’s perfect “as is” but appears as though the builder designed it to allow the buyer to tweak and modify it in a-hundred different ways. Assuming this is 8′ wide and at least 8′ high I’d actually put a wider mattress on a platform widthwise verses length, high enough to allow for a sitting area underneath with a low-sitting love seat style couch or 2 chairs. I love the french doors. Beautifully done and selling for a reasonable price.

I love the simplicity of this and think that this is beautiful AND something that I could live in.

HI, what is the total weight please?

Just looking at the axles, 3 3500# axles equals a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,500#s. That means it can’t weigh more than that, not necessarily what it does weigh although I’d say it’s pretty close to that.

So, no information at all? Is it on a flatbed? Tounge? Gooseneck? Flat back lorry?

I love tiny houses! And have dreamed of building (with help) my own for over 10 years. I’m 75 raising 4 grand kids but they are growing up and will, hopefully, be on their own soon. This site is inspiring! Thanks so much

We lived in these 4-man conversions in Iraq… except for full kitchen (microwave only) & bathrooms. Toilets & showers were in separate “common” converted containers. Covered them with camouflage netting & tarpaulins to keep cool (+90°F vs 130°!)…

I really like this house. I am wanting to do something similar with a 40ft high cube on a 44ft long trailer with a goose neck. Has anyone here had any experience with such a project?

    Thanks!

Hubby & I are moving to vancouver island and just purchased a single axel tractor & 40′ trailer. We’re looking to convert the trailer to a tiny home. Any info available on the plumbing & electrical schematics.

So I am wanting to do s shipping container conversion for a hunting cabin on some land I have. I know insulating the container is a must and can be tricky with condensation issues. Is there any way to insulate the container without framing the structure on the inside? I feel like that cuts into the already tight space inside a container. Thanks.

Can you find out how he put it on wheels? I mean the process. I’m very interested in creating one for my mom who has dementia.

    Thanks
