Michelle’s Bold & Beautiful Apartment Style

Michelle got in touch with us wanting to show off her bold and beautiful apartment style. Many of us are still working remotely due to the pandemic, and just because you live in a tiny apartment rather than a “tiny house,” doesn’t mean you can’t make your apartment your own.

She describes her style as a blend of old Cornish cottage style, Japanese style, Latin style, and Scandinavian style. The result is a totally unique and cozy home. Michelle hopes sharing pictures of her space will inspire you to make the most of your apartment, too!

Check out the photo tour below.

From Michelle:

I live in a 425sq. ft. apartment in Toronto, Canada. I am very passionate about interior design and the value of creating a space you love. I just wanted to share some photos of my apartment in hopes of inspiring other renters out there to express themselves and not be afraid to be bold and try different styles. Whatever your vision is, go for it! Now that we are spending more and more time at home it’s important to be in a space where you feel good (and if you really wish you could escape, use that as your design inspiration! ie. if you wish you could be in Paris, use that as a starting point for your design style).

I enjoy living in smaller spaces and I think there’s often more charm found in such places. I get my design style inspiration from old Cornish cottage style, Japanese style, Latin style, and Scandinavian style. I mix it all together to create a harmonious mash-up of cozy and eclectic vibes in my space.

Michelle, good job. Very sweet, customized, functional, and worthy of sharing. It is very imaginative and makes it feel like you are in the country. I like what you have done, and how you make it just the way it needs to be for you to truly claim it and enjoy it. The space feels welcoming and personal, yet not overcrowded. Thanks for sharing your space and your comments. Yes, apartments should be included in tiny space write-ups. Brenda

I have lived in small apartments and have used some of these same ideas – before removable papers were available I actually covered a wall with a great patterned flat sheet pinned into drywall with clear push pins, it turned out great. Michelle has the right idea, make it your own
