Most of you know Marsha and her famous tiny house builds that she has so graciously shared with us over the years. This is an update on her 8×8 shed tiny house since she added a customized French door.

From her micro houses to her short-bus skoolie conversion, to her more recent truck-bed micro cottage and her shed tiny house in Denton, North Carolina, Marsha has built quite a number of micro and tiny homes. In this post, you’ll get to see the latest improvements to her 8×8 shed-based tiny home! The most notable improvement is that she replaced a standard white exterior door with a custom French door which makes the world of a difference! Check it out!

As you can see, it’s a pretty standard door, and it was taking up lots of valuable space in the tiny house.

Look at what a big difference the new door makes!

Before I had a white enamelware bowl and a white enamelware coffee pot for water and washing. Now I have running water and a sink that drains.

An RV hose runs from the well spigot to my house and through the wall where it connects to a garden sprayer. I love it so far!

Then I took a large plastic pan, painted a red rim around it, added a bar sink basket, and hooked it up to an RV drain, with a built-in trap, that goes through the wall and attaches to a 20′ long, 1/2″ diameter garden hose which takes the water out to the garden behind my house. All gray water.

I am loving the convenience of both these things. Still go to the big house for showers though.

I love minions. My friend, Barb, made the needlepoint tissue box for me, and the lunch box was a junk store find.

More information on the toilet 🙂

That is my Haddock Portable Camping potty which, heretofore, had to be emptied every few days but was easy to control odor and very convenient. However, it was also heavy to push in and out, and to lug into the big house to empty in the toilet, but I did not want to do a composting toilet, so I did some research and found a happy medium. . .Arm & Hammer Natural kitty litter made from corn, baking soda, and plant extracts. I now use the Haddock like a large litter box and clean it every night depositing the paper bag into the trash to be taken out, much like disposing of baby diapers or diapers for the elderly. A little litter goes a long way and it is so lightweight that sliding the potty in and out is easy, and of course, absolutely no odor. So far I am loving this convenience, too.

Joan, the best way to learn about tiny homes is to check into this newsletter every day. The links at the top of the page will take you to more information than you will probably ever need including house plans, builders, different types of tiny houses, etc. It is a plethora of information. I only have a personal email address, but don’t usually give that out, but we will run into each other on this site and can communicate here. Looking forward to it. Who knows, maybe there will be a tiny house get together here in NC one day and we can meet.

But you can have email! Go to Gmail.com and create one, or Yahoo.com, or… well any web based mail browser. Don’t have a PC? Well you can always use publicly available ones… and while technically they are more “open” to hackers if you keep your password secure then you shouldn’t have any problems.

Great ideas. Simple solutions. You don’t need expensive things to make a tiny house or camper. You just need a good attitude.
