Margo the Commuter: Queensland Van Fit Out

This post contains affiliate links.

Today, we’re excited to introduce you to Sunshine Coast Van Fit Outs in Queensland, Australia. They do gorgeous professional van conversions that are bright, beachy, and ingenious. This is their latest build called “Margo the Commuter.”

Margo features one of the cleverest designs I’ve seen in a van, with a full pull-out kitchen that includes the built-in sink and removable stovetop. It doubles the space one has for cooking when the weather is nice enough to do it outdoors. Giant drawers pull out of the garage for easy access to all your things, and the couch becomes the bed with just a simple slide. Tell us what you think in the comments!

nothing that appeals to me in this entire build. I hate to be negative nelly, but it seems congested and a hassle to switch the bed might be okay, but the tiny fridge and solid closed in space hits my claustrophobia button big time.

The bold print says ‘propane stove’, the stove says ‘butane stove’.
Apparently, the fuels are *NOT* interchangeable…
    .
    From a propane dealer:
    “Dangerous Situations!
While you might be able to get a butane stove working by hooking up a propane canister to it, that is a bad idea.

The stove isn’t designed to use that type of fuel, so it could add too much air into the mixture or the fuel could come out too quickly, leading to an explosion or an unexpectedly large jet of flame.”

That’s only if you use it as is but you can just get a propane converter regulator. Some units come with it as a hose attachment, or built in as a separate port connector, for dual fuel usage, but you can get the propane converter regulator separately.

Fuel conversions can also be done to the stove itself, such as when adapting a natural gas stove to work with propane and vice versa, as that would also require changing how the fuel is handled. Fairly common, though, so there are usually standard valve/flow components that can be changed to make the change.

If the innerds of an appliance are modified to use a different fuel, should the device be so marked?
        .
At minimum, I think I would remove the factory sticker.
I might wire a slug onto the mechanism, clearly identifying the mods.

That said, you are correct to note that’s a butane stove. I think it may have just been assumed it was a propane stove, the Instagram page doesn’t seem to directly refer to it, and as it doesn’t look like any hose is connected to it that it would only be using butane then as that’s the only type of canister small enough to fit inside of the compartment in the stove.
