This is the story of Ethan Waldman’s mortgage-free tiny house that he designed and built himself! What an incredible shortcut to mortgage-freedom, right? A tiny house… yes!
He built it for way less than today’s average home and is already enjoying the debt-free lifestyle that most of us work decade after decade for only to get there run down and beat up… With tiny homes, this is changing.

On your first update: I know what you mean; it gets too heavy for I too. You really need two people (at least) when building.
Yup. Much easier with some help
Very nicely laid out. Love those nice big windows..
I have contemplated my various concerns at great length and determined that I want to start my off grid project building a composting toilet. What I have failed to find after more than a year of reading – where do you source your sawdust and how great a quantity is usually required to make a reasonable purchase. I also do not see anyone quoting a (per person) use rate.
Who can help me complete my learning curve?
@Eric, I use Coco Absorb instead of sawdust. Bought a 35 liter bag June of this year that I am just now looking at the end of. Got it on Amazon. Just an option for you to check into if there are no sawmill close by. Hope it helps.
Those nice big double windows on the side of this tiny house I assume would make a positive difference by comparison to the average size window..I like the way the closet concept is up in the loft for hanging clothes.. Very compact and nicely done..good job..
I just can’t deal with having to cart poop out the house, but every thing else is cool by me….!
Not poop Zach! Great fertilizer for homegrown strawberries
