Macy Gives you a Full Tour of Her $11k Tiny House (Video)

Most of you already know about Macy Miller. She’s the woman who built her own 196 sq. ft. DIY tiny house on wheels for only $11k.

Right now I wanted to give you a quick update because she’s recently put together a video for us where she gives you a full tour of her tiny home and explains how everything inside it works.

She took about 18 months from start to finish because she was working two jobs and doing volunteer work while building it. At the time that she made this video she’d been living in the tiny home for a year and 3 months. Enjoy!

    Wow, Macy!
The video shows so much more than the photos ever could! I’ve looked at pictures of your tiny house many times – but it wasn’t until the video that I realised you have incorporated many of the features that I have been asking about – for example – radiant under floor heating – I would not have thought of porcelain tile – I was thinking of pex tubing that holds water heated from solar panels, under a wood floor – but didn’t realise the cooling effects of the tiles… have you had any problems with them or the grout cracking while moving? What did you do to accommodate that? How much energy does the under floor heat draw? Do you think it would it be practical for off grid?

The bed over the storage idea is like the shepherds huts – but with the gooseneck trailer, you’ve gained so much more space! wow! I’d been grappling with ideas of mini clothes racks and drawer units on wheels under the bed – but this makes much more sense – and the slatted wall divider with the slider is pure genius. Does the job without feeling claustrophobic – looks great too.
Having you talk through the details / specs is very helpful – (I never would have considered loading the washer over the axles) along with clever ways around getting to otherwise dead space – for example – the sliding bookcase

The crowing jewel has to be the bathroom! I totally missed it in the photos. Who would have believed that such a luxurious bathroom was possible in a tiny house? Again, I’m curious about the tile or grout cracking during moving the trailer – and how did the tile versus other materials compete weight wise?

Now that you have lived in your space with a large dog (and tiny baby) are there any things that you would have designed differently in retrospect? Do you use the porch enough to justify the real estate for example; tho’ for only $11,000, I doubt anyone could come near some of the interior details – the handblown light fixtures that you all made and that barn door are priceless.

I really enjoyed your tour. You have a lovely home. On the floor heating how expensive is that type of heating? Where can I get info for how to install it? I have been watching different types of tiny homes and trying to find areas that will allow them, any suggestion? Thank you. Baby is a cutie. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I just love Macy’s home as well… and think it’s such a thoughtful design. And as a big dog person, I get such a kick out of the fact that she lives in a tiny home with a Great Dane!!
