After a Tough Divorce She Chose Minimalism in a Tiny House

This post contains affiliate links.

Luwan was dealt a bad hand, but she didn’t let that get her down. After a tough divorce, she chose to start over in her very own tiny house, built by Indigo River Tiny Homes. The house was tailored to her needs and wants, and the resulting 35 foot built is incredible.

She lives with her three dogs, and her home makes certain they have all they need. I love her bedroom loft, which allows her to stand upright on two sides of the bed. The builder even installed a fold-out stool to help her get in and out of her cushy bed.

The kitchen has a stunning L-shaped counter with a huge sink and all the amenities you’d need minus a dishwasher. And her bathroom includes a washer/dryer combo and a gorgeous shower stall. Be sure to watch the full interview with Tiny Home Tours below!

Lovely use of space. Like the colors selected and the spacious feel. Was going to comment that the stairs should have been used for storage also, but then in another photo saw that they were. Handles blended into the paint, making them unobtrusive. Lots of thought went into her selections and it worked out well for her. Particularly love the bathroom and the shower doors. Care, affection and appreciation exude in this space. Continued peace and contentment for you and your dogs. Thank you for the tour, picked up many good ideas. Brenda

Courts favor the earner of less income. In most cases, because women get 75 cents of every dollar that men get for the same work, women are subsidized in divorce because they could never afford to live on their own without the husband’s income. Luwan responsibly chose tiny living to live within her means.

Knowing how Divorce Courts almost always favor the wife financially… it is pretty evident her ex-husband paid for this new tiny house.

Seriously 😒….that’s what you got from this Tiny House Post? Sounds like “sour grapes” to me. Sooo sad to hear during this very difficult year, let alone the Holiday Season. May You find some peace ✌️

Obviously you haven’t been in a NYC divorce court. Nevertheless, each case is different so a blanket statement like that only exhibits lack of thought. You do not know the details of her divorce, so please do not judge.

Richard, seeing as she caught him cheating he deserved to pay for the new tiny house.

Too much personal information but nice house. No need to put her failed relationship info on the internet

She chose to put it out there. It can be a real inspiration to other people who may be in a similar rough situation.

Good for her. Cheating husbands should pay for the wife to have a home. I can tell you my cheating husband of 23 years that I have two children with, got off easy. So Richard might want to re-think your comments.
Love her place, great attention to details. Could totally live there!

In reality, he deserves to pay for this tiny house because he was stupid enough to get married in the first place. Smart men are remaining single and keeping all of their money & resources for themselves.

Being single really has nothing to do with being smart… It’s only dumb to get married for the wrong reasons or to do something to ruin it and force a divorce. Besides, only barely 25% of the population, mostly millennials, will never get married.

But for those that do, on average, married men make 10-40 percent more than single men… Married couples typically see a spike in their net worth that after ten years can be over 4 times what a single person would have accrued in the same time period… Father’s typically see a 21% higher income than single men… Single men can be more social and have more friends but they’re also more likely to commit risky behavior, including commit crimes… Families are more likely to have good healthcare, be more financially stable, able to sustain a higher standard of living, etc.

While around 1 in 4 marriages it’s the wife that earns more than the husband or is even the sole earner in the family and some marriages will even have the husband choosing to stay home to raise the kids… Among other examples on non-traditional marriages that are increasingly becoming more common…

So reality is more complex and nuanced, just like the rest of life…

This is so funny! James often knows a lot about tiny homes and building in general. I love that his knowledge and concern with facts extends to other topics as well.
Very nice home Luwan has made for herself. I enjoyed her detailed tour.

I think he deserves to pay for it because she said he cheated on her…but I would say getting married wasn’t the unwise decision he made.
