MSRP is pretty irrelevant if they build to ones specification.

Apparently my phone is glitchy & posted my comment b4 I was done. Love the triangle window. Love the storage in the stairs & the kitchen. Love the teal color. Love the hooks for hanging pots & pans. And the thing I like the best is that awesome wood stove. Where can I find one?

I really love this. Would replace with normal commode. The kitchen is clever. Room for storage. Colors is eye catching. Very nice indeed.

I’ve been looking at Tiny houses since before email was a thing. This is one of the best designed tiny homes I’ve seen, with only one modification that I can see for myself, that would be that the loft seems claustrophobic to me a bit. One would have to settle on a thinner mattress.
I do think the plan is appealing to me because of it’s extra width, I have not seen too many plans with a 10 foot width. I would actually consider this design for my build. No, I have not built one “yet”… bucket list!!

      July 26, 2021, 11:14 pm

One could have an increase in height. All one needs to do is have top half extend, sort of like a cardboard box. So the out side would raise up when you are at your destination. Simple hydraulics would assist with that and would seal against the top. That way you don’t come a cropper with the law and get the extra headroom when at your destination. Simple as really.

        July 27, 2021, 1:49 pm

I agree with you Eric. even back in the late 40’s and 50’s there were mobile home/park trailers that expanded to double height so one could actually stand up on both floors. Clever interior designing allowed that ability without raising the roof as well. I owned a 1957 Steward double decker 8 by 45 that was just so cool. 3 bedrooms and a bath and a half.

The option exists for Tiny Houses, a few companies specifically offer slide up designs. However, built to the standards of a residential home, with all the added weight, need to maintain air tightness, good level of insulation, added maintenance it requires, etc. puts a significant impact on cost involved above just the lift system, which is why it’s not a option you’d see used often with tiny houses…

        That’s a good idea, Eric.

  • Marie Robertson
    March 29, 2019, 8:27 am

Very nice. The only thing I would change would be the drop-down portion of the kitchen counter. I would remove that and add a drop down where the table is in order to place two seat options there that can be used for eating when needed. Maybe that eating section could be 10″-12″ so to not block all the shelves there. But that is what would work for me not necessarily someone else. The extra 2′ of space seems to make a big difference.

      May 4, 2019, 7:19 am

This the first layout i really like. I’ve been looking for over a year now. Living room area doesn’t look like u feel like a sardine . I love the mud room definitely gives feel of back door so to speak and front door. The area for bedroom i would have a raised floor.
I understand for storeage but my 4 poster bed would fit sit high enough for storage under bed.

This TH is awesome!! 2 questions: What are the hooks close to the ceiling for? And #2: Could that shelf behind the couch fold down? Thanks in advance.

    • James D.
      March 29, 2019, 10:17 pm

Overhead hooks in the kitchen are typically for hanging up cookware so you can just reach up, grab what you need, and start cooking…

It doesn’t look like the shelf behind the couch folds but that space is over the wheel well and it looks like they have a utility channel running along that wall too. So there wouldn’t be much point to folding it down… Though, you could enclose it and turn it into a storage cubby with pull up panels that otherwise functions as a shelf for a little more use of that space…

Very sharp. Love the two door convenience. Great mud room.

    May 3, 2019, 12:26 pm

I love the mudroom. One thing that bugs me about tiny houses (and my own apartment, for that matter) is that your wet coats and boots are sitting right by the living room door very close to where you’re supposed to be relaxing. This house is almost perfect, minus a few tweaks I’d make if I were living in it. The kitchen is amazing.

    • Stacey
      January 16, 2022, 11:08 am

I totally agree with you about mudroom and a place to put shoes and coats! I love to sketch my own rough drafts of the perfect tiny and it includes a broadside entry door and small cubby area with at least hooks for coats, and shelf for shoes, if not a traditional “coat closet”.

  • Kurt
    May 8, 2019, 7:00 am

This has a nice, bright airy feel to it. I don’t like the shelf behind the couch. Maybe that area wasn’t designed for couch placement? Another stairway that needs a handrail. I don’t like the wood accents in the shower area; wood and moisture is not a good combination. I like the exterior look, but again, I’m not a fan of using wood for exterior purposes, due to possible moisture issues.

    • Stacey
      January 16, 2022, 11:13 am

I noticed the shelf, too. Looks kind of odd. The problem is the wheel wells. It might look better with some items placed on it, as a sofa table, and place little woodstove closer to wall elevated on a platorm or box with space underneath for wood. Or do a custom sofa that sits on wheelwell. It’s a great design but with some tweaks, I think could solve that problem. Overall it’s a great design to start with!

Wow… that extra two feet makes a difference, huh? Terrific example and many features worthy of emulation.

Quick question… shouldn’t that Nature’s Head composting toilet have a duct attached to that tube sticking out the side? Perhaps it’s just not fully installed yet.

    • turner
      June 24, 2019, 5:20 pm

…asking about the Nature’s Head toilet because it appears to back against an interior wall. I wonder how easily it could be ducted.

    • turner
      June 24, 2019, 5:23 pm

A quick visit to the Nature’s Head website indicates that there are two ducts, one on either side, and either can serve as the intake/output with some minor mods. Perhaps it’s ducted on the other side.

      • Treana
        July 15, 2019, 7:51 pm

I see a hose on the other side to the floor. Maybe that’s how its ducted out.

Beautiful!!! So many things to love about this little home! The mud room, the kitchen with all its cabinets and work space, the bathroom is amazing, the build-ins in the upstairs bedroom makes it so roomy!! And just love this color scheme!! I want!!!

  • Carole
    July 20, 2019, 4:34 am

I LOVE this THOW! The main changes are changing the toilet to a regular one and somehow moving the washer/dryer combo to the mud room. Where would you hang up your wrinkleable clothes from the dryer if the unit was still in the kitchen?

Can a 10′ wide home be towed on the highway without special permits for oversized load?

    • Eric
      July 26, 2021, 11:22 pm

I believe in some states they can, and others cannot. Permits for oversize loads on the whole are pretty reasonable… but not sure whether average joe bloggs (or jo blogges’s) are allowed in all applicable states to do the shifting. Probably for a one time shift it makes sense to use a professional. Just make sure they have insurance.

Three things I would change 1-handrail on the stairs; 2-the aforementioned ability to raise the roof for the sleeping loft; 3-flushing toilet. Otherwise, this THOW is super cute to perfection! 💙

How tall is the loft in head room? I’ve thought about doing a loft bedroom but I need a little room also. I’d have to have atleast enough to completely sit up in bed and stand up without having to duck or crawl. I’m all abut tiny and saving space but you shouldn;t have duck or crawl in your own bedroom either.

    • Natalie C. McKee
      July 29, 2021, 8:39 am

From what I can tell, it looks like you can stand on the final step and have headroom so you can change, and then you just hop into bed like you would from your floor to your bed. But there’s not standing room if you were on top of the bed.

    January 16, 2022, 11:17 am

Thanks for the featuring this home and for the detailed tour, Alex! This is a beautifully designed thow. I love the mudroom! I would change some minor things in living area, like hace tiny qwoodstove close to wall on platform with wood storage underneath to save floor space, but overall it’s an awesome design! Well done!
