These fraternity brothers weren’t interested in doing another year of online college, so they decided to convert a 1999 Thomas 3800 DT466E school bus and hit the road instead.
They had a tight budget of $10K, including the cost of the bus itself. Amazingly, they managed to stay pretty close to budget and were still able to raise the roof and add a shower and wood stove, and everything else they wanted.
Right now the guys are living off of their savings and see what the U.S. has to offer before jobs tie them down. Enjoy their video tour below.

Great job guys! You put considerable thought into your build and it came out great. I’m very impressed with your ability to stay within your $10K budget. Really a perfect time to in your lives to travel and see this awesome country of ours. Wishing you safe and enjoyable travels!

Beautiful bus. They both did a beautiful job building this. Enjoy life in your bus cause many cannot do this. Can visit and see a lot of states if you both are in the US. A lot of people don’t get that chance.

A very impressive build! It is well thought out and the materials are great! Love the counter! I know space is limited and what I am about to suggest poses a challenge but I see this problem over and over in many tiny houses or conversions. I have issues with the couch. It seems typical that the cushions are just not thick enough to provide cozy comfort. The other difficulty is that the seat just isn’t deep enough to allow someone to pull their legs up and curl up to read or watch TV. Though this couch is well done…the cushions are well made and it fits into the space well plus the extra storage…but it just doesn’t look comfy. I just really like to sink into a couch. Don’t let this observation throw a wet blanket on the praises for your accomplishment, though. It really is beautifully done! I guess I just look at something like this and think of how it serves long-term living and, for me, comfort is really important. And I am the first to admit that it is difficult to see a solution for my suggestion but I hope it will spark someone’s imagination to find one. Congratulations on a successful build!
This is a frequent issue in tiny house builds, for sure. To put in a truly cozy couch, you have to sacrifice storage. But I’ve heard from many tiny home dwellers that they with they’d made that sacrifice so they had a snuggly spot!
Nice job, guys! I love to see families working together and having fun finishing a project. I love it!
