Parents use a tiny house for their teen kids bedroom!

When this couple moved to the family farm 19 years ago, they built a 1200-square-foot home for the two of them. But three growing kids later, they were ready for some more space. The costs and permitting for an addition were prohibitive, and that’s when they decided on getting a tiny house instead.

They parked it as close to their home as possible and built a breezeway to connect it to the rest of the house. In the tiny house, there’s a bathroom, loft bedroom, reading loft, and ground floor bedroom for the couple’s two older daughters. What do you think of this idea?

These Parents Ordered a Tiny House for their Teen Girls Instead of Doing an Addition

The family decided to buy a tiny house on wheels as their daughters’ bedroom instead of doing an addition to their house. The tiny house is the perfect size for their daughters and it was a lot cheaper than doing an addition to their house. They can take the tiny house with them wherever they go, which is great if they move. Their daughters love their new “bedroom” and are excited to have their own space.

The sisters give a tour of their new bedroom tiny house on wheels in the video below which blends nicely with their current home, making it looks very much like an actual addition! The sisters show off their new tiny house with their bedroom areas, kitchen, reading nook, and bathroom.

The reading loft hangout area in their tiny house is a cozy place to relax, read, or just spend time together. It has two comfortable floor chairs and a small table for holding a drink or a book. There’s also a window up here for natural light and ventilation. It looks like a great place to spend an afternoon.

My ex and did something similar when ours turned 14, We bought a 16 foot camper and put it in her back yard and gutted it, taking out the kitchen and built a bigger bathroom for him and a lil hang out area for him and his friends.

It’s a great idea! Minimal construction fuss on site, and flexibility for the future.
